From June 1st, only E10 and E5 RON 92 bioethanol gasoline will be sold nationwide, while A95 mineral gasoline will cease sales. To ensure smooth and uninterrupted gasoline sales, the People's Committee of Vinh Long province has assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to take the lead and coordinate with relevant units to closely monitor the market and proactively develop response solutions (if any issues arise).
The Department of Industry and Trade of Vinh Long province is also tasked with strengthening the management of gasoline and diesel fuel business activities; proactively monitoring public opinion and market information on E10 gasoline to promptly handle issues within its authority.
According to the Vinh Long Department of Industry and Trade, gas stations have been instructed to strictly implement the switch to E10 bioethanol fuel, ensuring uninterrupted supply. The local Market Management Department has been tasked with closely monitoring gas stations, understanding the market and consumer sentiment to enhance communication about the safety and benefits of using E10 fuel.
Authorities in Vinh Long will strictly handle violations such as selling gasoline of the wrong type, hoarding, creating supply shortages, arbitrarily stopping sales without justifiable reasons; or being ambiguous in indicating prices and types of gasoline at the pump, and arbitrarily increasing prices unreasonably.
According to Circular 50/2025/TT-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade , from June 1st, all unleaded gasoline circulating in the market must be blended with ethanol to become E10 gasoline before being sold. Accordingly, RON95 mineral gasoline will be blended with 10% ethanol before being released to the market (E10).
The Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that the switch to E10 fuel stems from several strategic objectives: diversifying supply sources and reducing dependence on fossil fuels in the context of an unpredictable global energy market; contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions; creating momentum for the domestic biofuel production industry; and expanding markets for agricultural products (cassava, corn).
In response to consumer concerns about the compatibility of E10 gasoline with currently operating vehicles, the Ministry of Industry and Trade stated that most motorcycles and cars can now use E10 gasoline.
