People in Trieu Loc commune are playing volleyball.
In the early mornings and late afternoons, the courtyards of cultural centers in many villages throughout the commune are filled with the sounds of folk music, volleyball, and the laughter and chatter of people after a day of work. Elderly people practice Tai Chi, women participate in folk dance clubs, young people play sports , and children frolic on the clean concrete grounds. These simple scenes clearly reflect the transformation in cultural life in these residential areas.
In Ngoc Tri village, the movement to build a cultured way of life has received a positive response from the people for many years. Currently, the percentage of cultured families in the village reaches 97%, and the percentage of people participating in regular physical exercise and sports is 86%. Folk dances, soft volleyball, and leather volleyball activities are lively and have become familiar recreational activities for people after work.
To meet the growing community needs, the village mobilized residents to contribute funds and labor to upgrade and renovate the community center and sports facilities. Currently, the village has one community center, one mini football field, and four volleyball courts. The community center is relatively well-equipped with tables, chairs, televisions, and other equipment for community activities. In particular, the community library, with approximately 1,000 books, is effectively maintained, becoming a place for reading and information for many villagers. Clubs, performing arts groups, and sports teams operate regularly, creating a cheerful and cohesive atmosphere in the residential area, and also serving as core forces participating in competitions, performances, and sports events organized by the commune.
Mr. Ngo Quang Truc, Party branch secretary and head of Ngoc Tri village, said: “The effectiveness of the grassroots cultural development movements comes from the consensus of the people. All content is publicly shared on the Zalo group for people to follow and contribute their opinions. The village also regularly encourages its children living away from home to join hands in building their homeland, so many activities are actively supported by the people.”
Along with Ngoc Tri village, the movement to build a cultured way of life in Phu Minh village has also seen many positive changes. As one of the bright spots in building a cultured way of life in residential areas, Phu Minh village currently has 95% of its families recognized as "cultured families," and 51% of its residents participate in regular physical exercise and sports. The village has one cultural center, four sports areas with four volleyball courts, two pickleball courts, and many other outdoor sports equipment for the residents.
Mr. Phan Van Dung, Party branch secretary and village head, said: “A highlight in building cultural life in the village is the movement to build culturally exemplary families and the implementation of village regulations and community conventions, which are made public, based on discussions, consensus, and participation from the people. As a result, awareness of adhering to civilized lifestyles is increasingly enhanced; weddings and funerals are organized simply and economically. Environmental sanitation is regularly maintained, contributing to preserving a bright, green, clean, and beautiful landscape.”
According to Mr. Luu Trung Cong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Trieu Loc commune, "The commune has 15 out of 17 villages recognized as cultural villages, and 87% of families recognized as cultural families. We recognize that building a cultural life in residential areas not only enhances the spiritual life of the people but also contributes to strengthening community solidarity, maintaining security and order, and creating a foundation for building new rural areas. Therefore, the commune will continue to promote the movement 'All people unite to build a cultural life' in conjunction with building new rural areas; focusing on improving the quality of cultural titles; building models suitable to the actual conditions, and promoting the leading role of the people in grassroots movements."
The highlight of cultural development in Trieu Loc commune lies not only in cultural titles or invested projects, but also in the consensus, solidarity, and collective community building spirit of each resident. Through practical activities in daily life, positive cultural values are being preserved and disseminated, contributing to the creation of a civilized and sustainable living environment in each residential area. This will be an important foundation for the locality to continue building a civilized living environment and sustainable development in the future.
