Building a plan for TKV's coal areas in Quang Ninh

On June 16, Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) announced that it has implemented a plan to develop TKV's coal areas in Quang Ninh province until 2030, with a vision to 2050.

The planning unit is the Mining and Industry Investment Consulting Joint Stock Company, which mentioned the current status of coal production of TKV in Quang Ninh . Through exploration work, Dong Trieu region has 4 mineral deposits, 5 exploration projects, total resource reserves of nearly 700 million tons; Uong Bi region has 4 mineral deposits, 5 exploration projects, total reserve and resource of more than 722 million tons; Hon Gai region has 6 mineral deposits, 6 exploration projects, total resource reserves of nearly 781 million tons; Cam Pha region has 8 mineral deposits, 5 exploration projects, total reserve and resource of more than 1.1 billion tons.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy General Director of TKV Phan Xuan Thuy emphasized the important role of the development planning of TKV's coal areas in Quang Ninh province for the production of the units, in line with TKV's development roadmap.

Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy also requested units to identify planning as a very important political task; coordinate and work with localities to implement and resolve issues related to planning, review projects, resolve overlapping exploitation, waste dumping planning, exploration drilling projects, regional linkages, etc.

At the same time, units should soon develop plans and strategic development orientations for land, infrastructure, resources, human resources, investment, and mining project development until 2030 and the following years, ensuring stability and production development.

TKV identifies planning work as an extremely important political task.

Currently, the investment and production of mining projects of units in TKV has 31 mines (1 mine has ended, 4 new mines); 64 projects (2 have ended, 32 are being implemented, 9 are preparing for investment, 21 have not been implemented); the mining output in 2024 will reach nearly 36 million tons (of which, underground mines are more than 27 million tons).

Coal screening and processing work is arranged in screening factories and small screening clusters, screening workshops, mine screening clusters in the areas of Cam Pha, Hon Gai, Uong Bi, Dong Trieu. Coal transportation work includes conveyor systems inside and outside the mine, railway systems, transport vehicles, etc.

The port system includes 6 ports with a capacity of over 35 million tons/year and 1 transshipment port serving coal import and export. Regarding land use in the Hon Gai area, the scale is over 3,500 hectares; Cam Pha area is nearly 7,865 hectares; Uong Bi area is over 4,700 hectares; Dong Trieu area is nearly 4,150 hectares, etc.
