On January 10th, speaking at the Vietnam Tourism Association's 2026 plan implementation conference, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho An Phong assessed: Over the past year, the Association, together with relevant agencies, has proposed solutions to institutional obstacles such as visa issues; resolved issues related to electricity pricing for hotels, shifting from special consumption rates to commercial rates; intensified promotion and advertising to attract international tourists; shaped the development of green tourism products; and promoted digital transformation…
Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, stated: In 2026, the Association will focus on identifying and compiling opinions and recommendations from tourism businesses to propose solutions to relevant state agencies to address difficulties and obstacles in policy implementation. Units and localities are required to promptly report inadequacies in tourism activities, inter-sectoral and inter-regional obstacles, as well as issues related to the environment and tourism resources.
Another prominent task is focusing on preparing and organizing large-scale tourism promotion events. In 2026, the Association will continue to implement phase 3 of the direct promotion program for leaders of international travel agencies in key markets. Notably, the Vietnam International Tourism Fair – VITM Hanoi 2026 will take place from April 9-12, 2026 with the theme “Digital Transformation and Green Growth – Elevating Vietnamese Tourism”; the MICE EXPO 2026 event is expected to be held from September 26-28, 2026 with the participation of approximately 700 domestic and foreign businesses. In addition, the Association will coordinate with localities to organize Vietnam Travel Day 2026 in Gia Lai, the VITM Phu Quoc International Tourism Fair 2026 and tourism and culinary festivals in Ho Chi Minh City...

Alongside promotional activities, the Association is stepping up research and development of new tourism products in a green and sustainable direction; revitalizing existing products, focusing on environmental protection and reducing plastic waste. Culinary tourism, golf, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism continue to be prioritized for development to improve service quality and competitiveness.
In the field of international cooperation, the Association maintains and expands relations with partners such as South Korea, Japan, Taiwan (China), JATA (Japan Association of Travel Agents), and ASTA (American Association of Travel Agents); and actively participates in foreign affairs activities organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam National Tourism Administration.
In particular, to build a prestigious annual award brand, the Vietnam Tourism Association officially launched the VITA AWARDS for the period 2025–2030, recognizing and honoring organizations, localities, and businesses that have made outstanding contributions to the development of tourism in Vietnam.
