At around 2:00 p.m. on February 15, a fuel tanker with license plate 63C-094.49, driven by a male driver, was traveling on the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong highway from Ho Chi Minh City to the West.
When arriving at Tan An City, Long An Province, the car suddenly caught fire. The driver quickly drove down the highway to Highway 62 (in Loi Binh Nhon Commune, Tan An City) and pulled the car to the side of the road, using a fire extinguisher to control the fire.
Authorities extinguished the tanker fire.
Discovering the fire, local residents helped the driver put out the fire but with great difficulty.
Upon receiving the news, the Long An Province Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department dispatched two vehicles and many officers and soldiers to the scene to put out the fire.
About 20 minutes later, the fire was controlled and completely extinguished.
According to initial information, while trying to approach the burning car to put out the fire, the driver suffered minor injuries to his face and hands and was then taken to the hospital for examination and health care.
According to the management unit of the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway, the incident occurred on the access road and did not affect traffic.
The cause of the incident is being investigated by authorities.
