In the context of digital transformation becoming a priority direction of the Government and businesses, data processing and analysis is not only a technical step but also a decisive premise to realize strategic goals.

The above information was given at the seminar "Data processing and analysis - Driving force for national digital transformation" organized by the National Data Association on May 28.

The challenge of data in the digital transformation process

According to IDC report, there are currently about 175 Zettabytes (175 billion Terabytes) of data generated, of which 80% is unstructured data (images, text, emails, videos , etc.). It is estimated that 7.8 billion people would spend 600 years to read all the text data and 7 consecutive months to watch all the videos from the above data.

This figure shows that without effective processing solutions, this “raw” volume will only waste resources and slow down the digital transformation progress. Therefore, building a data restructuring platform and intelligent analysis tools not only improves management capacity but is also the key to fully exploiting the hidden value within.

During the Dialogue, experts and managers emphasized that data is a strategic resource that needs to be ensured for information security, network security and personal data protection. In addition, digital sovereignty must be maintained for Vietnam's data, avoiding complete dependence on foreign solutions. In addition, mastering data processing and mining technology is a decisive factor for the successful implementation of the National Digital Transformation Strategy.

These orientations affirm the State's coordinating role in building a legal corridor, supporting policies and promoting public-private cooperation, helping to form a sustainable data ecosystem.

A representative of the National Data Association said that with the mission of connecting management agencies, businesses and individuals operating in the data field, this unit has been implementing many activities such as sharing knowledge through seminars, workshops, and in-depth training.

The activities also aim to connect the data community, create a forum for exchanging experiences, discussing technology solutions, promoting practical applications, and encouraging businesses to test and scale up modern data technology. The ultimate goal is to form a closed data value chain, from collection, processing, analysis to application, ensuring that Vietnam is not only a consumer but also a provider of data technology solutions.

"Data has a lot of surplus value. If data is exploited well and has connectivity, it can bring lasting value. Besides, we also need to discuss how to manage data effectively to protect personal privacy," Major Dao Duc Trieu - General Secretary of the National Data Association emphasized and affirmed that the Association is determined to actively contribute to building a strong innovation ecosystem in the data industry in Vietnam.

The "Heart" of Digital Transformation

At the Seminar, experts shared experiences in data analysis and processing from US technology companies and introduced the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in data processing.

Ms. Tuyet Dang - CEO and Founder of MedCAT Joint Stock Company said that to convert huge amounts of data from the "wild" state into structured resources, organizations often use traditional OCR: Helps digitize text from images, PDF; Key Information Extraction (KIE): Extract important information from unstructured documents; Data standardization: Synchronize formats, units, data field structures. Integrate historical data: Connect multiple sources, creating a unified data warehouse.

Each approach, she says, contributes to building “data for AI” and “data for governance,” two types of data that are indispensable in the digital economy era.

Ms. Tuyet Dang also introduced the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in data processing in the medical and healthcare industry and affirmed that the application of AI in data processing in healthcare used to be a human dream but is now gradually being realized, bringing great changes in life, helping the medical team improve accuracy and shorten the time to make treatment and healthcare decisions.

Meanwhile, Ms. Hanh Pham - Data Director, in charge of User Data Science at Pinterest brought a global perspective on the data economy.

From her experience working at US technology companies, Ms. Hanh Pham believes that in the current era when data is considered the “new oil”, the story of the data economy is emerging as a key driving force in shaping the world. The data economy is opening up the future of creating value based on information. This new economy is supported by the huge amount of data generated every day, not only redefining traditional industries but also creating new markets and opportunities.

Experts at the Forum also emphasized that data processing and analysis is not simply a supporting step but the "heart" of digital transformation. From document digitization, process digitization to integrating AI into strategy, every step must be based on a foundation of quality, structured, managed and in-depth analyzed data. Only by turning data into value can Vietnam truly transform itself on the global digital map, creating a driving force for sustainable socio-economic development./.
