A tribute to our fellow countrymen of all ethnic groups.
Since its inception in 2016, the program has become one of the most practical and effective social welfare activities of the Border Guard Force , aimed at caring for the people during Tet (Lunar New Year). Through this, it contributes to caring for those in difficult circumstances, bringing joy and excitement to the ethnic communities in border, coastal, and island areas. This is both a responsibility and an expression of gratitude from the Border Guard Force to the ethnic communities who have always stood side-by-side with the soldiers in green uniforms across the nation's borders, firmly protecting national sovereignty and border security.

2025 was a year of many natural disasters that caused heavy losses to people across the country, and it was even more difficult for the people in border regions who already faced hardship. The concerted efforts of the entire political system to ensure a happy Lunar New Year for the people after a year heavily affected by storms and floods added a special touch to the 9th Border Guard Spring Festival, making it even more meaningful.
Before the official start of the 2026 "Springtime at the Border Guard Station: Warming the Hearts of the People" program (organized on various scales, from the grassroots level, border guard posts to the Border Guard Command), thousands of officers and soldiers in green uniforms raced against time to complete the "Quang Trung Campaign" to ensure people had safe housing before the Lunar New Year of the Horse 2026. Participating in the campaign with a spirit of "boldness, decisiveness, and speed," they demonstrated the political acumen, humanitarian qualities, and the close, blood-bond relationship between the military and the people of the Border Guard force in peacetime.
Lieutenant General Nguyen Anh Tuan, Political Commissar of the Border Guard, affirmed: "Under any circumstances, with the affection, responsibility, and gratitude of the officers and soldiers of the Army and the Border Guard, especially towards the people of ethnic minorities on the border, sea, and islands... the Ho Chi Minh's Army is always ready to be present, going ahead and coming back together with the people!"
After many efforts by border guards through various models and movements to stand side-by-side with the people over the past time, this spring, hundreds of families have gained new livelihoods in the form of livestock, poultry, and household items donated by the Army and Border Guard units. Thousands of disadvantaged students are being nurtured, cared for, and encouraged to excel in their studies by border guard posts…
Building a steel fortress of people's hearts makes it even more solid.
To organize the "Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of the People in Border Villages" in 2026 across 30 border and island provinces and cities, the Border Guard Command directed its units to make thorough preparations, deploying thousands of task forces to the areas to coordinate with local Party committees and authorities to organize Tet celebrations and maintain security and order in border and island villages. The entire force donated over 10,000 "Spring Border Guard" gifts, 3,000 "Helping Children Go to School" scholarships, 500 breeding cows, 200 "Borderland Shelter" houses, and provided medical examinations and treatment for 15,000 people...
Specifically, the "Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of the People" (at the Border Guard Command level) in Huong Xuan commune, Ha Tinh province, was organized by the Border Guard Command, the Provincial Party Committee, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, and other participating units. Activities included: free medical examinations and medication distribution, and healthcare for over 500 people; donating 33 breeding cows to help the poor in border areas; giving nearly 900 Tet (Lunar New Year) gifts to policy beneficiary families, war veterans, and poor households; and gifts for the inauguration of 4 Solidarity Houses for the Chut people – one of the smallest ethnic minority groups in Vietnam; awarding 203 scholarships to students; and many other activities. The total amount of money spent on these activities reached tens of billions of VND.

Ms. Phan Thi Huong, a resident of Huong Xuan commune, happily shared: “We people here have faced many hardships, so we are very happy to receive the attention of the leaders at all levels, especially the Border Guard, and to be cared for so thoughtfully. This is a motivation for us to overcome difficulties and work together with the Border Guard to fulfill our duties.”
Besides social welfare activities, officers and soldiers joined the local people in cultural exchanges, rice cake making competitions, and traditional games such as tug-of-war and stick pushing. The atmosphere of close military-civilian relations was joyful and lively, serving as both a platform for interaction and a valuable cultural element, adding depth to the Border Guard Spring Festival and strengthening the people's bond.
They deserve to be recognized as the core force, intimately connected to the people in the border region.
In the series of activities for the Border Guard Spring Festival, the special political and artistic program "Border Guard Spring: Warming the Hearts of the People" in 2026 was a vibrant highlight. An atmosphere of unity permeated the border valley during the gala night. Music filled with pride for the Fatherland, beloved folk melodies of Ha Tinh province, and images of courageous border guards enduring harsh weather conditions through various documentaries... brought hearts closer together, fostering understanding and appreciation of the value of solidarity and joint efforts in protecting the nation's borders. It also affirmed that the Border Guard is a specialized force, directly working with ethnic minorities in border areas to maintain national sovereignty and border security; building increasingly prosperous, stable, peaceful, friendly, and sustainably developing border regions.
With deep emotion, Comrade Le Minh Hung, Member of the Political Bureau, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, and Head of the Central Organization Department, affirmed: “The ‘Spring Border Guard Program: Warming the Hearts of the People’ is not only about meaningful gifts, but also a vivid symbol of the solidarity between the military and the people, of the moral principle of ‘loving others as oneself,’ and of the noble nature of Uncle Ho’s soldiers in the new era. Through this, we strengthen the people’s trust in the Party, the State, and the armed forces, making the border not only the frontline of national defense but also a place where love, trust, and aspirations for development spread.”

The gala program became a vibrant spiritual gift that the Border Guard gave to the people in the border region of Ha Tinh. The range of emotions and joy shining on the happy faces of the people are the motivation for the officers and soldiers to continue striving, worthy of being the core force closely connected to the people.
Springtime at the Border Guard – the springtime for the soldiers in green uniforms – is about returning to the people, bringing simple gifts that contain the deep care and affection of the Party, State, Government, and Army, as well as the Border Guard at all levels and in all sectors, to each village and each home so that every person in the border region can have a warm, prosperous, and joyful Tet holiday. This springtime not only becomes a beautiful tradition but also a cultural value, further enhancing the qualities of the Border Guard – the steel shields guarding the forests and villages, considering "the outpost as home, the border as homeland, and the people of all ethnic groups as brothers and sisters."
