Happy spring in the hometown of the late General Secretary Tran Phu

Celebrating the Party, the Lunar New Year of the Year of the Dragon, and looking forward to the 120th anniversary of the birth of the late General Secretary Tran Phu, hundreds of projects and tasks are being implemented by officials and people of Duc Tho ( Ha Tinh ).

Now over 70 years old, Mr. Mai Xuan Tam, residing in Chau Noi village, Tung Anh commune, is once again celebrating a joyful spring with his family in the green space of a model new rural residential area. Welcoming the new year of the Dragon, the Party Committee and people of Duc Tho district are also eagerly striving towards the goal of being recognized as an advanced new rural district by 2024 and celebrating the 120th anniversary of the birth of the late General Secretary Tran Phu. Therefore, tidying up his garden to welcome these major local events is a source of joy and pride for Mr. Tam.

People in Tung Anh are tending to their Dien pomelo orchards after harvesting and selling them during the 2024 Lunar New Year.

Mr. Mai Xuan Tam said: "I am very honored to have been born and raised in Tung Anh, the birthplace of the Party's first General Secretary. Therefore, to be worthy of being a citizen of the late General Secretary's hometown, we must strive even harder to build a more prosperous and beautiful homeland."

Mr. Nguyen Ba Khue, Secretary of the Party Branch of Thong Tu village, Tung Anh commune, said: Thong Tu village was recognized as a model residential area three years ago. To maintain and improve the criteria of a model residential area, officials and people have continuously strived to build and uphold these criteria. Especially during the 120-day emulation campaign to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the late General Secretary Tran Phu, Thong Tu village registered to build and plant an additional 2 km of green fences, flower beds and ornamental plants, and clear the traffic corridors of cross roads and alleys...

Mr. Nguyen Van Duc, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tung Anh commune, said: “We are very proud of the land where the first General Secretary of the Party was born. This is the driving force that motivates the Party Committee, the government, and the people of Tung Anh to unite and strive to eradicate poverty and build a stronger and more prosperous homeland. Currently, the entire commune only has 22 poor households, accounting for 1.1%. To contribute to the district achieving the advanced new rural standard on schedule, from the beginning of the year, Tung Anh has focused on improving the quality of the criteria for "model new rural communes" and building 12 out of 12 sustainable "model new rural residential areas".

Not only in Tung Anh commune, the spirit of emulation in building new rural areas and civilized urban areas, and implementing projects and tasks towards the 120th anniversary of the birth of the late General Secretary Tran Phu, has spread widely throughout all localities in Duc Tho. With the goal of achieving the standard of a civilized urban area by 2024, in 2023, Duc Tho town has strived to achieve 8 out of 9 criteria; the final criterion will be achieved before the anniversary of Comrade Tran Phu's birth (May 1st this year).

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Duc Tho town, said: Along with other localities in the district, Duc Tho town is focusing on upgrading and paving traffic routes – the final criterion to achieve the standard of a civilized urban area. From the beginning of 2024, the locality has planned to complete this difficult criterion, which requires a lot of resources. The goal is to achieve the standard of a civilized urban area before May 1st, 2024, to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the late General Secretary Tran Phu.

Mr. Dang Giang Trung, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Duc Tho District Party Committee, said: “The Party Committee and people of Duc Tho district are focusing on emulation to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the birth of the late General Secretary Tran Phu, while striving to achieve the advanced new rural district standard by the end of this year. At this time, the district has 8 out of 15 communes achieving the advanced new rural standard; 4 out of 15 communes achieving the model new rural standard and 10 out of 13 residential areas achieving the model residential area standard, especially with 6 out of 9 criteria for an advanced new rural district already met. The average per capita income has reached 54.7 million VND/year. The poverty rate is only 3%. Celebrating the Party and the New Year, hundreds of projects and tasks are also being implemented by officials and people in localities of Duc Tho district.”

The green hedge has existed for hundreds of years in Chau Noi village, Tung Anh commune.

The pride of being a revolutionary homeland, the birthplace of the late General Secretary Tran Phu, has become a great driving force for the Party Committee and people of Duc Tho district to continuously strive, learn, work, produce, develop socio-economic aspects, and further enrich the glorious history of their homeland.
