The conference was attended by more than 40 travel agencies and media outlets from Thailand, as well as travel businesses specializing in receiving international tourists nationwide, who came to survey and evaluate products and connect tours and travel routes in Thanh Hoa.
Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Dau Thanh Tung, emphasized that Vietnam and Thailand are two neighboring countries in the ASEAN community, sharing a traditional friendship and close ties in many fields. Tourism is always considered an important bridge to strengthen people-to-people exchanges and promote economic , cultural, and social cooperation. The similarities and intermingling of cultures, cuisines, and beliefs act as a "soft silk ribbon" connecting and attracting tourists. The differences in landscapes, identities, and tourism products are "plus points" that complement and support each other in linking tours and routes, creating attractiveness for tourists in the region and internationally. Therefore, in the tourism development strategies of both countries, strengthening linkages and cooperation to develop the cross-border tourist market between the two countries and jointly attracting other international tourists remains a top priority.
Thailand is one of the international tourist markets that Thanh Hoa province is targeting. In recent years, the province has focused on organizing annual activities to connect and welcome delegations of travel businesses and media agencies from Thailand to survey and evaluate products and connect tourism routes. Initially, this activity has achieved certain results, attracting the attention of travel businesses from Northeast Thailand to design and offer tours to Thanh Hoa, thereby contributing to the growth of international tourists and tourism revenue of the province over the years.
Representatives from Thai travel agencies and media outlets, along with Vietnamese travel companies specializing in international tourism, consulted on various ideas and solutions to promote Thanh Hoa's tourism brand and image to a wider audience. Emphasis was placed on strengthening bilateral promotion, maintaining close ties with Thai tourism businesses, and effectively establishing and exploiting the two-way tourism market. The province should develop local tours and routes, linking them with research and coordination in organizing cultural, culinary, and artistic exchange events between Vietnam and Thailand in Thanh Hoa and vice versa. This would create a unique and attractive destination image, leaving a lasting impression on tourists.
On this occasion, the Thanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is organizing a series of tourism promotion activities and events such as: Welcoming a farm trip delegation and a conference to promote the Thai tourist market to Thanh Hoa (September 26th to October 3rd); a thematic conference on promoting Thanh Hoa tourism development in the new situation (October 2nd); a Lao art performance program in Thanh Hoa within the framework of the Lao Culture Week in Vietnam 2025 (October 4-6); and the Thanh Hoa Culinary Culture Festival (October 2-5)...
To concretize the development orientation for the Thai tourist market, linked to Thanh Hoa's goal of increasing international tourist market growth in the coming time, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, Dau Thanh Tung, requested that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinate with the Department of Foreign Affairs, relevant agencies, the Tourism Association, and travel businesses of both countries to develop a specific cooperation program, focusing on promoting characteristic products and strengthening communication in the Thai market, gradually making Thanh Hoa a familiar destination in the itineraries of Thai tourists. The province aims to cooperate in building unique and competitive tour routes to attract potential international tourist markets, based on the principle of "harmonious benefits, shared risks, mutual development, and achieving success".
In 2024, the number of Thai tourists visiting Thanh Hoa reached nearly 3,000, an increase of 5.4% compared to the previous year, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of international tourists to the locality. In the first nine months of 2025, the number of Thai tourists visiting Thanh Hoa is expected to reach approximately 1,900, an increase of 11.8% compared to the same period of the previous year.
