Deserving of the title of leading unit

The Huoi Luong Border Guard Post was established in March 1980. Over more than 42 years of development, combat, and growth, successive generations of officers and soldiers of the unit have upheld the tradition of unity, overcome difficulties, and successfully completed all tasks. This has contributed to protecting national sovereignty and border security, always proving themselves worthy as a leading, specialized force in the cause of building and defending the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

The border guard post, located in Huoi Luong commune (Phong Tho district), is tasked with managing and protecting a 13.015km stretch of border with China, encompassing 15 border markers (from marker 57 to marker 65). The area under its responsibility includes 21 villages inhabited by four ethnic groups: Mong, Dao, Ha Nhi, and Kinh. Over the years, the post has consistently focused on implementing emulation movements to strive for excellence in all assigned tasks.
Major Nguyen Huu Kiem, Political Officer of the Border Guard Post, stated: The Party Committee and Command Board of the Post have seriously implemented the plan and directives of the Provincial Border Guard Command regarding border management tasks and the emulation movement for decisive victory. Annually, they develop plans and effectively implement the contents and targets of the emulation movement, determined to successfully complete political tasks, build a clean and strong Party organization, and a comprehensively strong unit that is "exemplary and outstanding"; overcoming existing weaknesses and creating positive changes throughout the unit.
In addition, the station seriously implemented intensive emulation campaigns, maintained a systematic approach to summarizing, evaluating, and drawing lessons learned, commending and rewarding outstanding individuals, promptly identifying, nurturing, developing, and replicating exemplary models, and publicizing good deeds and good people. The station developed plans, organized the launching of emulation campaigns, and signed emulation agreements leading up to major events. Through these efforts, the station raised awareness among officers and soldiers in carrying out political tasks and emulation movements; created a vibrant and widespread emulation atmosphere throughout the unit; fostered pride, patriotism, self-reliance, and solidarity; and ensured the successful completion of all assigned tasks.

The border management and protection work, as well as combat readiness, is particularly noteworthy. The border guard post consistently takes the initiative in monitoring and forecasting the situation, providing timely advice and recommendations to superiors and local authorities on policies and strategies to address emerging issues on the border and in the area, preventing any unexpected or passive responses. They regularly conduct effective patrols and inspections of the border and boundary markers.
From 2022 to the present, the Border Guard Post has organized border patrols along the border line 36 times with 216 people participating; patrols from marker 61 to 65(3) have been 250 times with 750 people participating. Coordinated with the border management and protection forces of neighboring countries to organize bilateral patrols and joint law enforcement patrols 24 times with 96 officers and soldiers participating. Closely coordinated with forces to strengthen patrols and control people and vehicles entering and leaving the border area, maintaining order and safety in the area. Through patrols and controls, 4 cases and 7 individuals illegally entering and exiting the country were detected, arrested and processed.
The fight against drug trafficking and crime is given priority. In addition, the station participates in helping people develop socio-economic conditions and contribute to building new rural areas with models such as rice and corn cultivation, pig breeding, and cattle farming. Military medical personnel are sent to provide medical examinations and treatment to the people, distributing free medicine; coordinating medical examinations and treatment at the commune health station for 6,652 people; providing free medicine worth over 100 million VND; and administering expanded immunization to 1,118 people. They also participate in volunteer work to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters, harvest crops, and assist one household in poverty alleviation and economic development.
Through the "Helping Children Go to School" program, the Border Guard Post sponsors and supports two students (500,000 VND/child/month). They also organize visits and gift-giving to families receiving preferential treatment in the area during holidays and Tet (Lunar New Year). In coordination with the Thanh Son District Women's Union (Phu Tho province), they signed a cooperation agreement to donate a livelihood model to two impoverished female members, totaling 20 million VND… Through these efforts, they strengthen the solidarity between the military and the people, building a solid people's defense and people's security posture.
With its achievements over 42 years of construction, combat, and growth, Huoi Luong Border Guard Station has received four Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister, twelve "Unit of Decisive Victory" titles from the Border Guard Command, and seventeen Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee... In addition, many collectives and individuals have achieved outstanding results and received Certificates of Merit, titles of "Emulation Soldier," and other high awards from the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Interior, the Border Guard Command, the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial People's Committee, and the Phu Tho Provincial Women's Union.

The Huoi Luong Border Guard Station spearheaded the investigation and prosecution of 3 cases involving 1 suspect, seizing 7g of opium and 315 synthetic drug pills; apprehended 4 cases of illegal cross-border smuggling, seizing 112kg of fresh plant roots and leaves suspected to be ginseng and notoginseng. In coordination with the District Police, they handled 1 case involving 2 individuals for illegal lottery betting; 1 case involving 1 suspect for illegal drug trafficking; and 1 case involving 1 suspect for theft, recovering assets worth 127 million Vietnamese Dong, 600 Chinese Yuan, and 1 safe.
