Despite her young age, Ms. Thi Ha is a shining example for the S'tieng ethnic minority community. She not only inspires the younger generation in their studies and self-improvement, but also serves as an extension of the Party's policies and guidelines, as well as the State's laws and regulations; simultaneously contributing to preserving and reviving the cultural identity of the S'tieng people.
Positive energy
“When you come to school, if you feel feverish, achy, tired, or experience any unusual symptoms, what should you do first? In such situations, you should inform your homeroom teacher and Ms. Ha as soon as possible so they can advise you, take you to the nearest medical facility for examination, and get medication…” This was the advice and guidance given during a disease prevention and control awareness session for students at Hoang Dieu Primary School (in Phu Nghia commune), conducted by school health worker Thi Ha. Despite her young age, Ms. Ha possesses solid medical knowledge and communicates fluently, helping students understand the importance of preventing common diseases and learn how to take care of their own health.

In particular, with over 80% of the students being from ethnic minority groups, educating , raising awareness, and mobilizing them becomes easier thanks to specific, relatable, and community-appropriate methods. Through this, Ms. Ha not only imparts knowledge but also contributes to forming long-term health care habits for the children.
"To effectively disseminate information, provide counseling, and educate on health, I must be close to the students and understand their thoughts and aspirations. Because they are young, shy, and timid, I must be kind and guide them to find solutions. Only when someone comforts and reassures them will they trust and follow my advice," Ms. Ha shared.
Ms. Ha's career as a school health worker began by chance. Concerned about the challenges of disease prevention and control for her community, especially during the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic, she decided to pursue a college degree in Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City. After graduating, she returned to her alma mater to work, hoping to contribute to raising awareness among children and her community about disease prevention and self-care.
Hoang Dieu Primary School has a large number of ethnic minority students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Therefore, in addition to fulfilling her professional duties well, Ms. Thi Ha also collaborates with the school's management board to regularly visit, give gifts to, and encourage students at risk of dropping out to return to class. Through many meaningful and practical activities, she not only contributes to building trust and helping students feel secure in staying at school and in class, maintaining student enrollment and improving their health, but also actively contributes to improving the quality of education at the school.
Ms. Le Thi Sen, Principal of Hoang Dieu Primary School, said: "Ms. Ha is always close to and loving towards her students, treating them like her own children. In particular, she performs her professional duties well, always caring for the health of staff, teachers, and students; and effectively carrying out disease prevention and control awareness campaigns. She is also a passionate and enthusiastic Deputy Secretary of the school's Youth Union, leading in all activities and movements, and actively working with the school to encourage students to attend classes at the beginning of the new school year."
