Accordingly, the YouTube Shorts feature will be integrated with the video generation model - Veo developed by DeepMind (owned by Google). In order to compete with rivals such as Sora (OpenAI), Gen-3 Alpha (Runway), Firefly (Adobe) or Kling (Kuaishou Technology), DeepMind's model can create video clips at 1080p resolution with many different themes and cinematic styles.

The Veo integration will enhance YouTube’s “Dream Screen” AI that will launch in 2023 to help creators create background images for their videos.

Users can write text prompts on the Dream Screen to get the system to return four photos, then use Veo to turn them into videos. The AI-generated content will be tagged by Google using the SynthID system.

Google is also considering launching “digital diamonds” — a type of gift that viewers can give to streamers, similar to TikTok’s “gifting” feature.

Finally, the search giant announced that creators can use AI to brainstorm ideas in YouTube Studio with the Inspiration Tab.

The feature, currently in beta, is capable of suggesting a concept of what the user should do, then automatically generating a title, thumbnail, and the first few lines of dialogue.

Google hopes the new AI tools can lower the barrier to entry for YouTube content creators, helping the platform better compete with TikTok.
