The issue started around 8 AM Vietnam time. Many users accessing the YouTube homepage on devices such as computers, smartphones, and smart TVs experienced a blank screen or a system error message.
Although the main interface doesn't display suggested videos , some manual search features or access to the subscribed channel list may still work, albeit at a slow pace.

The online incident tracking system (DownDetector) has recorded over 300,000 reports of disruptions when accessing YouTube.
According to data from the online outage tracking tool DownDetector, the number of error reports surged dramatically, with over 300,000 reports in a short period. This situation occurred not only in Vietnam but also spread to many countries, particularly high in major US cities such as New York, Washington, and Los Angeles. At the same time, several other services within the Google ecosystem and Meta platforms also experienced minor disruptions.
A YouTube representative later confirmed that the issue stemmed from an error in the content recommendation system.
This technical glitch directly prevented videos from displaying on YouTube's homepage, mobile app, streaming music service (YouTube Music), and children's app (YouTube Kids). The company's technical team immediately implemented corrective measures to restore service.
By around 9 a.m. that same day, services began to operate stably again in most areas.
However, the system malfunction during the Lunar New Year holiday caused significant inconvenience to users' entertainment and online viewing needs on the first day of the new year.
