On November 6, Zalo AI Challenge 2023 officially returned with a test on Generative AI - a technology trend that has recently been gaining attention around the world .
After 6 times of organization, Zalo AI Challenge has always been highly appreciated for its serious, professional and transparent investment. Attracting nearly 1,300 participating teams each year, the competition has become the most prestigious and largest AI arena in Vietnam and is a playground that is always awaited by the AI enthusiast community.
Generative AI is a generative AI model that is very popular today. Unlike some traditional AI systems that are designed for tasks like classification or data analysis, Generative AI is geared towards generating outputs or creating content based on the instructions provided.
One of the most popular applications of this technology is ChatGPT. By presenting problems related to Generative AI, Zalo AI Challenge aims to encourage AI engineers in Vietnam to quickly catch up with the world's technology waves but with high applicability for Vietnamese people.
Not only limited to the scope of the competition, Zalo AI Challenge's contribution to the AI industry in Vietnam also extends to subsequent research from the training dataset provided for free by Zalo AI Challenge itself.
This year, Zalo AI continues to invest in the training data set with the goal of providing the community with a quality input source for AI models. Training data is an indispensable part of creating AI products, but not every organization has enough resources to access it, because of the large investment resources. By providing data through the competition, Zalo AI has helped students and small research groups access valuable and quality data to train and improve their models, thereby contributing to promoting AI research in Vietnam on a large scale.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Tu, CTO of Zalo, commented that Zalo AI Challenge is an AI arena that Zalo has invested in both the questions and the training data set. Zalo always focuses on questions with a certain level of difficulty but still has high practicality to challenge the competing teams. At the same time, the training data set for the competition is always dedicated to completion, has impact and helps participating teams build good solutions.
“Hopefully, in addition to the large and high-quality data set, the upcoming contest topic that Zalo AI Challenge 2023 offers will be highly challenging and will lay the foundation for more in-depth research, motivating the community of artificial intelligence enthusiasts to develop AI solutions from academia to practice, serving human life in general and Vietnamese people in particular,” Mr. Tu added.
The Zalo AI Challenge 2023 still has the participation and support of an advisory board including senior staff at Zalo AI and leading professors and doctors in the AI technology industry in Vietnam and internationally.
The organizing committee of the competition includes Dr. Chau Thanh Duc - Head of Zalo AI Lab Research Department, lecturer at University of Natural Sciences ; Dr. Nguyen Truong Son - Scientific Director at Zalo AI; Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet - Head of Data Science Team at Zalo AI; Mr. Nguyen Minh Tu, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Zalo, Head of the organizing committee.
In addition, contestants will also receive advice from leading AI experts: Professor Nguyen Le Minh, currently Director of the Interpretable AI Research Center at the Japan Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST); Associate Professor Tran Long Thanh, Deputy Head of the AI Research Department, Faculty of Computer Science, Warwick University (UK); Dr. Ngo Duc Thanh - Head of the Faculty of Computer Science, Ho Chi Minh City University of Information Technology.
The program's advisory board will closely follow and accompany the competition process, develop AI solutions for the competing teams to answer in-depth technical questions through "mini talk shows". This will be a "golden" opportunity for the competing teams to gain practical experience and receive training from a generation of experienced AI researchers and developers.
This year's program has a total prize value of up to 15,000 USD. Of which, the 3 winning teams corresponding to the 3 competition groups will receive a prize of 3,500 USD/prize, the 3 runner-up teams will win 1,500 USD/prize.
