This is a nationwide social program aimed at improving students' access to knowledge and in response to Vietnam's Book and Reading Culture Day.
At the program, Phan Viet Hung, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Youth Pioneer and Children's Newspaper, stated: In the national development strategy, especially in the era of national progress, the Party and State have always identified people and knowledge as the central element and important driving force for sustainable development. From 2014 to the present, Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21st annually) has always been an important occasion to affirm the role of books in enhancing knowledge, skills, developing thinking, education , and simultaneously cultivating human character. With that spirit, today's event aims to contribute to promoting the reading movement and developing reading culture in the community; building a positive learning environment from families to agencies, organizations, and schools.
In the context of the country's efforts to develop high-quality human resources, knowledge and reading culture continue to be identified as crucial foundations. However, the reality in many localities shows that students' access to books, newspapers, and reading spaces remains limited, especially in disadvantaged areas. The "1,000 Knowledge Libraries for Children" project was established to contribute to addressing this situation, gradually creating a friendly learning environment where students can access knowledge, form reading habits, and develop comprehensively.
Implemented over 10 years (from 2026-2035), the project aims to build and donate 1,000 libraries in schools nationwide. Each library will be designed according to a standard model, including: a system of 500-1,000 books, newspapers, and publications suitable for students' age groups; learning support equipment (based on practical needs and funding sources, expected to include a desktop computer and projection equipment); and a friendly, accessible reading space.

The project is implemented through a socialized mechanism, prioritizing disadvantaged localities that lack access to a diverse range of books and publications with content suitable for children and students, while ensuring effective and long-term exploitation and use.
At the event, the Organizing Committee launched the campaign: "Donate a Book - Open the Future" to encourage children and students nationwide to contribute books and newspapers, thereby spreading the spirit of sharing knowledge and connecting the community.
Beyond simply donating libraries, the project aims to build a sustainable learning ecosystem within schools, where reading becomes a habit, a need, and a joy for students. Each library established is not just an educational facility, but also the result of the collective efforts of the entire society, contributing to building a foundation of knowledge for the young generation of Vietnam.
