Da Lat leads the list of domestic destinations that Vietnamese tourists search for during Tet (Lunar New Year), while Thailand is the most popular international destination.
Booking.com, a Dutch-based online booking app, announced on the evening of December 11th the top 10 most popular domestic and international destinations for Vietnamese tourists during the 2025 Lunar New Year holiday. The ranking is based on searches, bookings, and registrations for experiences at these destinations from January 24th to February 9th.
75% of Vietnamese tourists want to visit cool places during Tet (Lunar New Year), and these destinations must also meet their needs for relaxation as well as offer many experiential and adventurous activities. Da Lat fits all three criteria and has become the most popular domestic destination for tourists visiting during Tet 2025, with a 300% increase in searches compared to the same period last year.
The remaining destinations include Nha Trang, Phu Quoc, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Hanoi , Mui Ne, Hoi An, and Sa Pa.

The coastal destinations of Nha Trang and Phu Quoc saw search rates increase by 200% and 180% respectively compared to the same period last year. According to booking apps, these two destinations attract travelers who love the beach and water sports . Major cities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang are popular due to their rich history, culture, diverse cuisine, and vibrant lifestyle. Vung Tau is considered ideal for those seeking tranquility. Hoi An and Sa Pa attract visitors with their ancient charm, picturesque scenery, and diverse culture.

Thailand, Japan, and Malaysia are the three most searched-for international travel destinations for Vietnamese tourists during this year's Tet holiday. Thanks to short flight times, convenient transportation, and no visa requirements, Thailand remains a top choice for Vietnamese travelers. Bangkok also leads the list of most searched international destinations, with double the growth compared to the same period last year. The next two most searched destinations are Tokyo, Japan, and Phuket, Thailand.
In addition, the booking platform indicates that Vietnamese travelers are increasingly seeking novel experiences for the Lunar New Year holiday. That's why Dubai, UAE, appears on the list. The remaining destinations include Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Chiang Mai, Ubud, and Hong Kong.
Varun Grover, Country Director of Booking.com in Vietnam, observed that during this year's Tet holiday, Vietnamese tourists tended to combine visits to familiar destinations with exploring new ones.
"Vietnamese tourists are rewriting their own travel guidebooks," Grover said.
