Candidates take the 10th grade exam in early June

Mr. Ho Tan Minh, Chief of Office of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, has just announced that the department is completing the review of the regular 10th grade wishes of about 90,000 students and will announce the 10th grade benchmark scores of nearly 110 high schools at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, July 3.

Thus, this year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the 10th grade benchmark scores about a week earlier than previous years.

The 10th grade entrance exam in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 6 and 7 with about 98,400 candidates taking the exams in literature, foreign language, math (if candidates register for regular 10th grade) and specialized/integrated subjects (if candidates register for specialized or integrated classes). The total enrollment target for 10th grade of specialized high schools, high schools with specialized or integrated classes and regular high schools is about 78,000 students.

Previously, on June 24, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City announced the benchmark scores for specialized and integrated 10th grade.

From the 10th grade exam score data this year of about 98,400 candidates, the number of candidates with a total score of 3 subjects from 20 points or more is 31,888 people, accounting for 32.24%; The number of candidates with 15 - 20 points is 38,470, accounting for 38.9%; The number of candidates with 10 - 15 points is 27,598, accounting for 27.91%; The number of candidates with a total score of 3 subjects below 10 is 4,140, accounting for 4.18%.

Compared to 2023, Mr. Huynh Thanh Phu, Principal of Bui Thi Xuan High School (District 1), predicted that the benchmark scores of top 2 schools could decrease by nearly 2 points and the benchmark scores of bottom-ranked schools could be below 10 points.

Teacher Tran Tuan Anh, Thu Duc High School (Thu Duc City), said that the benchmark scores for grade 10 at top schools will decrease compared to last year, the specific level will depend on the number of quotas of each school. For schools with quotas equal to or lower than last year, the benchmark scores may decrease but not fluctuate much; while for schools with increased quotas, the scores will cool down.
