From June 1st, 2026, E10 bioethanol fuel will officially be distributed and sold nationwide, replacing traditional gasoline. The implementation of the bioethanol fuel roadmap is a global trend, consistent with Vietnam's practical conditions, stemming from the requirements for sustainable development, ensuring energy security, protecting the environment, and fulfilling Vietnam's international commitments on reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
In fact, E10 gasoline has been sold on a trial basis in some localities for nearly a year, and initially, no significant difference compared to using conventional gasoline has been observed. The transition roadmap has also been developed by the authorities in a step-by-step manner, with thorough impact assessments, avoiding abrupt or hasty decisions.
Many countries around the world already use E10, E15, and even E20 gasoline.
However, after a pilot period before nationwide implementation according to the roadmap, consumers, and even manufacturers, still have concerns, reservations, and differing opinions regarding this type of fuel. These concerns include its impact on engines; economic efficiency and consumption levels; and how consumer rights will be protected if negative consequences arise from using E10 gasoline…
All of these issues will be analyzed, evaluated, and discussed at the seminar " Is using E10 gasoline a cause for concern? " organized by the Government's Electronic Information Portal today, with the participation of invited guests including representatives from state management agencies, associations, and technical experts.
