On the morning of May 28th, at the Viet Hung urban area in Long Bien, Hanoi , the VKL Runners club organized the VKL Kids Run. The event attracted 230 young athletes. The children were divided into age groups to ensure equal competition and create a healthy competitive environment.
Race director Nguyen Thi Thai Linh meticulously planned and executed the regulations. Specifically, the race is divided into two distances: 2.2 km and 4.4 km. The 2.2 km distance is for age groups 1-6, 7-9, and 10 years and older. The other distance is for age groups 7-10 and 11 years and older.
The young athletes are preparing to enter the competition.
Furthermore, the organizers fully prepared the competition equipment, logistics, referees, and race track security to ensure the success of the event. Parents and children were served free food such as caramel, milk, tarts, passion fruit cheese, wine sauce, ham sandwiches, etc., in large quantities.
This is the fourth year the VKL Kids Run has been held. The event takes place at the beginning of the summer vacation to celebrate International Children's Day on June 1st. Each year, the event has grown in both quality and quantity. In 2019, only 30 children participated. By 2020, the number had more than doubled to 70. In 2022, the number of participants reached 170 before 230 children joined this year's race.
The young athletes are the children of VKL Runners club members. The members consider running a passion and a way to improve their health. Alongside this, the members always strive to encourage and inspire their children and grandchildren to develop good habits in their daily lives.
Ms. Vu Lan Anh, a member of VKL Runners, shared: " The annual VKL Kids event was a resounding success, filled with joy and laughter. The best thing was the connection between parents and children, and I hope the children will inherit and continue the tradition of loving sports to improve their health. Moreover, through running, I hope the children will understand that diligence, perseverance, discipline, and seriousness are the paths to all future success ."
