DNVN - Amazon Web Services has just announced a commitment to invest $230 million in startups around the world to accelerate the development of generative AI applications.
This commitment will provide startups, especially early-stage companies, with AWS credits, coaching, and training to continue leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) technologies.
Part of this new commitment includes providing companies participating in the second round of the AWS Generative AI Accelerator program with practical expertise, and granting AWS credits of up to $1 million to each of the top 80 early-stage startups using generative AI to solve complex problems. Applications for the AWS Generative AI Accelerator program are open until July 19th.
Matt Wood, Vice President of Artificial Intelligence Products at AWS, said: “For over 18 years, AWS has helped more startups form, launch, and scale their businesses than any other cloud provider. It’s no coincidence that 96% of AI/ML unicorn startups run on AWS. With this new commitment, we will help startups grow and scale into world-class businesses, providing them with what they need to create new AI applications that can impact every aspect of how the world learns, connects, and operates.”
Interested startups can use AWS credits to access AWS computing, storage, and database technologies, as well as AWS Trainium and AWSInferentia, energy-efficient AI chips that deliver high performance at the lowest cost.
These credits can also be used on Amazon SageMaker, a comprehensively managed service designed to help companies build and train their own foundational models (FMs), as well as access models and tools to easily and securely develop generative AI applications through Amazon Bedrock.
The AWS Generative AI Accelerator program identifies top early-stage startups that are using generative AI to solve complex problems in areas such as financial services, health and life sciences, media and entertainment, business, and climate change.
Companies participating in the program will have access to training sessions on improving ML performance, optimizing technology, and market entry strategies.
AWS will announce the list of startups selected for Phase 2 of this program on September 10th of this year. The program will begin on October 1st with in-person training sessions at Amazon's Seattle facility. All 80 participating startups will be invited to attend and showcase their solutions to potential investors, customers, partners, and AWS leaders in December at re:Invent 2024 in Las Vegas, USA.
