On the evening of November 22nd, at 10/3 Square, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province solemnly held a ceremony commemorating the 120th anniversary of the formation and development of Dak Lak province (November 22, 1904 - November 22, 2024). At this event, Mr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, announced the Prime Minister's decision recognizing the "Thac Hai Stone Drill Bit Collection" as a National Treasure. The Thac Hai site (located in Ea Sup district) is an important archaeological discovery. It contains exquisite and unique artifacts. This site belongs to the late Neolithic period, dating back 3,000-4,000 years. It is considered the only workshop for crafting stone drill bits in the Central Highlands, demonstrating the remarkable development of prehistoric stone tool making techniques. The "Collection of Stone Drill Bits from Thac Hai" not only holds historical and cultural value but also opens up opportunities for deeper research into the lives of prehistoric inhabitants. The recognition of this as a National Treasure marks an effort to preserve and promote the value of this heritage, contributing to the development of Vietnamese archaeology. On this occasion, the National Institute of Records also announced three important records honoring the potential and advantages of Dak Lak province. These records relate to agriculture, forestry, and tourism. Accordingly, the province has the largest coffee growing area in Vietnam, totaling 212,106 hectares, making Dak Lak the coffee capital of the country. Lak Lake, with an area of over 500 hectares, is a valuable water source and a famous tourist destination. Lak Lake is recognized as the largest natural freshwater lake in the Central Highlands.
