This year's competition is themed "Martial Arts Warrior," inspired by the spirit of East Asian martial arts. More than just an annual technology competition for engineering students, Robocon 2026 also sets high standards for the integration of mechanics, automation, programming, and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
The 12m x 12m competition space is designed like a miniature "martial arts arena." Each team controls two robots, one of which operates fully autonomously. The robots must perform a series of tasks such as picking up and assembling weapons, and navigating a "bamboo forest" to collect "martial arts manuals."
The climax of the match takes place in the "arena" area, where robots place their "secret techniques" on a two-meter-high checkered grid. The team that creates three consecutive positions in a vertical or diagonal line wins absolutely (Absolute Win) and earns the title of "Kung Fu Master".

According to the organizers, this year's competition required teams to solve many complex technological problems, especially in the areas of automated control programming, identification, and the development of flexible operational strategies on the field.
All participating teams will gather at Studio S1, Vietnam Television ( Hanoi ) to compete in the live rounds. The final round will take place from May 29th to 31st with direct head-to-head matches.
Besides the competitions, Robocon 2026 also organized a workshop titled "Applications of AI and Automation - From the Playground to Real-World Production," creating a forum for exchange between businesses, managers, and students on bringing robotics research closer to practical needs.

The matches and accompanying programs will be broadcast on VTV2, with the final and awards ceremony televised live at 8 PM on May 31st. The winning team will represent Vietnam at the Asia-Pacific Robot Competition (ABU Robocon) in Hong Kong (China) in August 2026.
