Reuters and local media quoted Thai police officials as confirming that at least six people were found dead at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Bangkok on July 16, including Vietnamese citizens.
According to initial information, Lumpini District Police in Bangkok received a report of the incident at the Grand Hyatt Erawan Hotel in Pathum Wan district at 5:30 p.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, police found three men and three women dead in a room on the fifth floor of the hotel with no signs of a struggle. Their luggage was found near the front door.
Initial investigations identified the victims as two Vietnamese Americans and four Vietnamese nationals. Initial evidence at the scene indicated that six of the victims may have died from toxic substances.
Thai police are examining CCTV footage and questioning witnesses to gather more clues.
Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has ordered an investigation and personally visited the scene of the incident. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand has sent officials to the scene to coordinate with Thai authorities.
Speaking to VNA reporters, Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand Pham Viet Hung said that embassy staff are working with local authorities to verify the incident and carry out necessary citizen protection work.
