After numerous leaks, the new generation VinFast VF 8 has officially launched in the Vietnamese market. To increase its appeal to customers, the Vietnamese electric car manufacturer has revamped the exterior and interior design of the VinFast VF 8, adding new technologies and features.
Here are the changes in the new generation VinFast VF 8 compared to its predecessor:
Design, overall dimensions
While the predecessor VF 8 featured the Dynamic Balance design language with many rounded lines, the new model has undergone a transformation with a more angular and sharp design. The Vietnamese automaker calls this the Tech Fluid design language.

The glossy black grille, combined with the wing-shaped LED daytime running lights and two large air intakes, gives the front of the car a rugged feel. The body is adorned with embossed lines and sleek chrome window trim that seamlessly connect from the A-pillar to the D-pillar. The rear retains the familiar design with the distinctive V-shaped LED taillights.
In terms of size, the new generation VF 8 is slightly smaller in length, width, height, and wheelbase compared to its predecessor. However, maintaining a 5-seat configuration instead of 5+2 like many competitors in the same segment ensures that the interior space remains spacious and comfortable.
| VF 8 new generation | VF 8 older generation | |
|---|---|---|
| Length x Width x Height (mm) | 4.701 x 1.872 x 1.670 | 4,750 x 1,934 x 1,667 |
| Wheelbase length (mm) | 2,840 | 2,950 |
| Ground clearance (mm) | 170 | 162 |
The interior design is minimalist, practical, yet modern.
The cabin of the new generation VF 8 maintains a modern, minimalist style but focuses on greater practicality. The central infotainment screen has been reduced in size to 12.9 inches from 15.6 inches as before. In return, the car has added an instrument panel behind the steering wheel, providing a more intuitive view for the driver.

The interior space remains as streamlined as before, but the central screen is smaller, measuring 12.9 inches.

The steering wheel features a sporty, flat-edged design. Notably, the push-button gear shift mechanism has been replaced with paddle shifters behind the steering wheel, similar to the design on the VF 3 and MPV 7 models, but more luxurious thanks to the addition of metallic accents.
Other amenities remain the same as the previous generation, including: dual-zone automatic climate control with air purification, power-adjustable front seats, driver's seat with memory function, an 8-speaker premium sound system, and a Vietnamese-language virtual assistant. However, some other amenities such as heated and cooled seats, a panoramic sunroof, and a head-up display (HUD) are no longer present on the new generation VF 8.
The new generation VinFast VF 8 features changes to its chassis platform and performance.
Compared to its predecessor, VinFast's D-segment crossover now utilizes a new generation chassis with adaptive damping suspension at both the front and rear axles. This allows for adjustments in stiffness and softness depending on road conditions, resulting in a more stable ride and faster damping of vibrations. Additionally, the 19-inch wheels, while not aesthetically striking, offer a smoother ride and reduced noise, making them well-suited to Vietnamese traffic conditions.
Next, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer equipped the VF 8 2026 with a new electrical and electronic system featuring a central computer architecture, enabling it to analyze, make decisions, process, and respond to commands from the occupants.

The battery pack equipped in the new generation VF 8 has a capacity of 60.13 kWh, providing a maximum driving range of 500 km on a single full charge.

In terms of performance, the new generation VinFast VF 8 only uses a front-wheel-drive electric motor configuration, delivering 228 horsepower and a maximum torque of 330 Nm, along with 3 driving modes: economy, normal, and sport. Additionally, the battery pack has a capacity of only 60.13 kWh, smaller than the 87.7 kWh battery pack in the previous generation, but thanks to the lighter new chassis platform, the vehicle's range reaches up to 500 km on a single charge.
To ensure optimal performance, the vehicle is also equipped with an integrated temperature management system (ITM) developed by VinFast. This system helps manage and regulate the temperature of the battery, engine, electrical system, and cabin air conditioning according to the actual temperature.
More attractive selling price
Four years ago, the older generation VF 8 was priced at 1.057 - 1.237 billion VND for the Eco and Plus versions. Meanwhile, the new generation model is positioned with a more attractive starting price of only 999 million VND, not including any promotional offers or discounts for early bird customers. This price point creates a competitive advantage and makes it more accessible compared to rivals using gasoline and diesel engines in the same segment.
Customers who place a deposit as part of the pioneer program between May 27th and June 3rd, 2026, will receive an additional discount of 51 million VND. The first batch of the new generation VF 8 vehicles is expected to be delivered to consumers by the end of July 2026.
