41 wards in Ho Chi Minh City have had their water supply cut off.

The water supply sector is carrying out maintenance on the electrical systems of pumping stations and repairing water valves, affecting tens of thousands of households this weekend.

From 10 PM on December 2nd to 3 AM on December 3rd, wards 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 13, 14, 25, 26, 27, and 28 of Binh Thanh District and wards 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 17 of Go Vap District will experience water outages or weak water pressure.

Similarly, Phu Dong and Thanh Loc wards in District 12; 11 wards in Tan Binh District, excluding wards 1, 13, 14, 15 and Tan Son Nhat Airport will be affected. In Thu Duc City, the wards of Binh Chieu, Binh Tho, Hiep Binh Chanh, Hiep Binh Phuoc , Linh Chieu, Linh Dong, Linh Tay, Tam Binh, and Tam Phu will also experience water supply disruptions during the aforementioned period.

According to the Saigon Water Supply Corporation (Sawaco), when the water supply system resumes operation, some areas far from the source may recover more slowly than expected. Subordinate units are regulating the water supply network to minimize the number of affected areas. At the same time, joint-stock companies will increase water delivery by tanker trucks to key locations.

The Thu Duc Water Treatment Plant was built in 1966 in Linh Trung Ward, Thu Duc City, with a capacity of 450,000 m3 per day. To date, the plant has increased its capacity to 850,000 m3 per day. It has been a source of clean water for millions of people in Ho Chi Minh City for over 50 years.
