The Vifotec 2022 award recognized 43 projects currently being applied in production, yielding high economic efficiency, helping to replace imports, and creating a technology market that serves daily life.
The organizing committee of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (Vifotec) announced that out of 128 entries in Vifotec 2022, the judging panel selected 43 outstanding products. The closing ceremony and awards presentation will be held at the Hanoi Grand Opera House on May 31st.
Among the 43 selected works, there are four first prizes, nine second prizes, fifteen third prizes, and fifteen consolation prizes. The prizes are awarded to six groups of fields including: mechanical automation (9), materials (6), information technology - electronics - telecommunications (5), biology (6), climate change response technology (10), energy saving and new energy (7).

Among these, the first prize-winning projects include:
Research on the fabrication of a continuous vacuum frying system for processing fried snack products from Vietnamese agricultural and aquatic resources by authors Pham Anh Tuan, Nguyen Tien Khuong, Ta Phuong Thao and colleagues at the Institute of Agricultural Mechanization and Post-Harvest Technology ( Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development ) - field of mechanical automation.
Research on predictive maintenance programs and the application of artificial intelligence to save energy and improve the operational efficiency of the Hai Thach – Moc Tinh condensate gas field, blocks 05-2 and 05-3 in the East Sea of Vietnam, by authors Ngo Huu Hai, Tran Vu Tung, Tran Ngoc Trung and colleagues of the East Sea Oil and Gas Operating Company (Vietnam Oil and Gas Group) - renewable energy and new energy sector.
Improving the structure of biological substrates using recycled PET plastic to enhance wastewater treatment efficiency in the beverage industry by authors Van Tra, Pham Duy Nhat, Ha Van Kien, Huong Sen Group Joint Stock Company (Thai Binh) - field of materials technology.
Research on the application of technology to enhance the oil recovery factor for clastic sediments of oil fields in the Cuu Long Basin, Vietnam's continental shelf, by authors Nguyen Minh Quy, Pham Truong Giang, Hoang Long and colleagues, Vietnam Petroleum Institute (Vietnam National Petroleum Group) - in the field of climate change adaptation technology.
In addition, the two projects that won first prize in the fields of materials technology and mechanical automation were awarded the WIPO prize by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award, organized annually by the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, aims to honor research with practical applications by scientists nationwide that helps improve socio-economic efficiency, boost production in businesses, increase productivity and quality, lower product costs, replace imports, and create a technology market serving life, security, and national defense. Over the past 28 years, nearly 3,000 projects have participated, and more than 900 have won awards.
