Although iOS 18.1 and iOS 18.2 introduced many Apple Intelligence features such as Image Playground, Genmoji, Writing Tools... there are still many improvements to look forward to this year.

Here are five standout AI features coming in the upcoming Apple Intelligence update.

Priority Notifications

Currently, Apple Intelligence-enabled devices already have a notification summary feature. However, in the upcoming iOS 18 versions, Apple will launch Priority Notifications to help users prioritize more important notifications.

With this feature, notifications marked as priority will appear at the top of the list, making it easier for users to grasp important content immediately.

New Siri Features

Siri has a new design and natural language understanding on Apple Intelligence-enabled devices, but there are still many upgrades to Siri that have yet to be added. Coming soon, Siri will support personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper app integration.

Accordingly, with Personal Context, Siri can track all data on the device such as messages, emails, files, and photos to support better searching.

With Onscreen Awareness, Siri understands what you're looking at on your screen. For example, if you're looking at a photo, just say, "Hey Siri, send this to (recipient's name)," and Siri will understand what "this" is.

Siri will also be able to perform more tasks within and between apps, such as editing a photo and sending it with just one command, or moving files from one app to another.

Apple promises these features will only be processed on the device to protect user privacy.

Genmoji on macOS

Genmoji was introduced on iPhone and iPad in iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2, but not yet on macOS Sequoia 15.2.

However, Apple has confirmed that Genmoji will be included in the macOS Sequoia 15.3 update, which is expected to launch in January 2025.

Memory Movies on macOS

Macs still lack the Memory Movies feature, which lets users create slideshows from photos and videos using only text descriptions. Currently, the feature is only available on iPhone and iPad, but Apple plans to bring it to the Mac in the future.

Users can create Memory Movies by going to the Memories section in the Photos app, tapping Create, and entering a description of the desired slideshow.

The app will automatically select photos and videos that match your requested theme, create a slideshow with background music, and then you can edit and share the results on social networks.

Multilingual support

In 2025, Apple will expand Apple Intelligence support to more languages beyond English, including: Chinese, English (India), English (Singapore), French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

When will these AI features launch?

Aside from Genmoji on the Mac, there are no new Apple Intelligence features in the iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, and macOS Sequoia 15.3 updates that Apple is beta testing. So new features could appear in iOS 18.4.

iOS 18.3 is expected to launch in late January 2025. Apple will then beta test iOS 18.4 and related updates for several months, with an expected release in April 2025.

With powerful AI improvements like priority notifications, smarter Siri, Genmoji on Mac, and multi-language support... users can expect a more seamless and convenient experience in upcoming iOS updates.
