Officially released on August 22, Red Rain quickly became a box office sensation from the early screenings on August 21. Screenings were continuously increased, and despite being at a "dangerous" time slot, the film was still packed with audiences. Word of mouth and positive reviews on media and social networks made Red Rain heat up every hour.

As a result, over the last 3 days of the weekend alone, Red Rain earned approximately VND82 billion with 843,585 tickets sold from 12,575 screenings, surpassing the heat of other entertainment films released during Tet. Including early screenings and pre-booked tickets, Red Rain earned VND106 billion, as of 8am on August 25, according to Box Office Vietnam statistics.

Red Rain has created an unprecedented record in Vietnamese cinema for the historical war film genre. This is also the work of the first female director to achieve this feat. Although it has just been released, Red Rain can be ranked at the top of the list of the best Vietnamese war films and the most explosive effects.

Director Dang Thai Huyen.

Although it was a box office hit, Red Rain also witnessed a sad and condemnable incident when many moviegoers filmed many important scenes of the film and posted them online.

Director Dang Thai Huyen shared that she was sad and heartbroken because the entire crew had prepared for many years, 81 days and nights of hard work, dedication... blood, sweat, and tears were shed on the set. The female director then spoke up to ask the audience to stop spoiling the content, taking and filming important scenes and posting them online to reveal the entire content of the film. "Everyone, please love and appreciate the efforts of the crew. Please stop doing that. Please give us more motivation to dedicate ourselves to the next products."

However, Red Rain almost crushed all the other films showing in theaters. Demon Slayer: Infinity City was pushed down to second place. Last weekend, the film earned an additional 16 billion VND, bringing the total revenue of films in Vietnam to 122 billion VND. Shin Chan: The Crayon Shin Chan came in third with 3.6 billion VND. Mang Me Di Bo ranked fourth at the box office and has now reached 170 billion VND.

Red rain is predicted to continue setting new records this week and on the occasion of September 2.
