With the theme Intersection - a gentle yet powerful encounter between the currents of past and future, art and heritage, Philippines and Vietnam , the exhibition introduces 32 works by two Vietnamese artists, Vo Van Quy (Nhat Quy) and Filipino artist Manny Garibay.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Philippines to Vietnam Meynardo Los Banos Montealegre said that the choice of art as the language connecting the two nations on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Philippines-Vietnam Strategic Partnership is deeply meaningful. The works on display are not only visual creations but also “narratives in color and emotion”, where identity, strength and affection are blended, reflecting the enduring flow that has connected the two nations over the years.

The Ambassador expressed his pride in calling the two artists Manny Garibay and Nhat Quy his close friends; and respectfully acknowledged their presence and contributions to this exhibition. The Ambassador hoped that, when viewing the works, the public would feel the talent and unique techniques of each person; and at the same time see the historical imprint and the aspiration for peace and prosperity of the two nations.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ta Quang Dong expressed his honor and joy to attend this meaningful art event. The exhibition is held at an important time when 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam - Philippines Strategic Partnership; at the same time, towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2026, opening up many opportunities for extensive cooperation.

The Deputy Minister emphasized that the "Interchange" exhibition is a brilliant highlight in the series of cultural exchange activities; contributing to enhancing understanding and connection between the people of the two countries. He highly appreciated the initiative of the Philippine Embassy in Hanoi , especially the efforts of Ambassador Meynardo Montealegre in constantly promoting cultural cooperation and cultivating bilateral friendship. With the theme Interchange , the exhibition brings a subtle artistic dialogue between the two cultures; not only reflecting the rich history and identity of each country but also expressing the harmony in the souls and creative emotions of the two artists.

According to the Deputy Minister, the success of the exhibition has left a deep impression on the art-loving public; at the same time, it has contributed to further tightening the Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and the Philippines on the basis of cultural exchange and cooperation.

Artist Manny Garibay is considered one of the most prominent figures in Philippine contemporary art. He has made a strong impression with his bold figurative painting style, focusing on depicting the human condition and reflecting the movements of social life. In his works, artist Garibay combines a unique visual language with profound political, social and spiritual contemplations, giving voice to ordinary people, as a reminder that humanity is always multidimensional and profound.

Meanwhile, artist Vo Van Quy (Nhat Quy) conquered the public with his delicate silk paintings, imbued with lyricism and the depth of Vietnamese culture. His works depict the tranquil beauty of nature, the gentleness in the communication between people, and the pride of national identity. With the belief that art can become a bridge across borders and generations, artist Nhat Quy founded the art group “Connection” to promote creative dialogue and cultural exchange between domestic and international artists.

By juxtaposing the perspectives of two artists through their individual works presented in the same space, the exhibition represents the convergence of like-minded artistic souls and a shared aspiration to portray the creative spirit of the two peoples. The exhibition not only honors the vitality of distinct artistic styles, but also affirms the materials chosen as a bridge between different levels of concepts while still respecting the unique cultural identity.

The exhibition is open until October 22, 2025 at the Vietnam Museum of Fine Arts (66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi).
