The event received many reviews from experts about the subtle blend of oil painting and lacquer, between tradition and modernity, creating a profound and humane artistic space.
Painters Dang Thu An and Nguyen Duc Huy are a pair of artists who both graduated from Hue University of Arts and are considered prominent faces of contemporary art.

Notably, An’s oil paintings and Huy’s lacquer paintings create two contrasting but complementary visual worlds : soft - hard, light - deep, thin - thick. In the exhibition space, the works do not stand alone but “converse” with each other, just like the way two creative personalities go hand in hand in artistic life.
Dang Thu An’s works open up a soft, emotional space. The young women in the paintings often turn away or look away, as if hiding something private, making the viewer want to pause and listen to the story behind the layers of color. The oil paint is lightly and airy, creating clarity of tone but still evoking inner depth.

In particular, An experimented with lacquer on canvas - a bold choice, combining traditional materials with soft canvas, to create a painting surface that is both mysteriously glossy and pulsating as if breathing.
Not only providing an aesthetic perspective, the exhibition also received many reviews from researchers and critics, reflecting the artistic depth and emotional influence of the two artists. Typically, the series of new works, with works such as "Illusionary Garden", "Night Fragrance", "Grapefruit Fragrance", "Pomegranate Blossoms and Honeyed Sunlight" clearly demonstrate the sophistication in graphics and color structure.

Critic Phan Thanh Binh commented that An's paintings are "clear, suggestive and contain the hidden beauty of modern Vietnamese women", making viewers think, not just see.
Art researcher Ngo Kim Khoi also expressed his feelings when talking about An: “An’s oil paint is not thick, not showy; the color is just enough to evoke the skin of a young girl after a rosy dream”. This fragility and strength, according to him, is the characteristic beauty that makes up the identity of the female painter.

If An’s paintings are whispers, then Nguyen Duc Huy’s lacquer paintings are like a hymn of light and darkness. For him, each painting is a ritual, many layers of paint, many years of polishing, to finally reveal the deep black surface, where the gold - silver - eggshell light sparkles like stars.
His two main groups of works, “Lovers” and “Light”, express two different contemplations. In “Lovers”, couples blend into nature, evoking the Asian fertility spirit, the beauty of the harmony of yin and yang. Meanwhile, “Light” focuses on the inner self, where women become symbols of knowledge and rebirth.

Critic Phan Thanh Binh said that Huy's paintings "combine conventional shaping nuances with patterns reminiscent of Nguyen Dynasty enamel", creating historical and cultural depth in modern lacquer structures.
Art researcher Ngo Kim Khoi commented that Huy's world is a place where "the surface of the painting is so black that you can see your reflection in it, but hidden within are stars compressed into the soul", showing the ability to create inner space through traditional materials.
