According to the Australian Embassy, recent successive storms have caused widespread devastation and flooding in northern and central Vietnam. The Australian Embassy expresses its condolences to the people of Vietnam as the storms have reportedly claimed at least 69 lives.

To share the pain with the people of Vietnam during this difficult time, the Australian Government has committed A$3 million in assistance to the Vietnamese Government to help Vietnam recover from the damage caused by Typhoons Bualoi and Matmo. Australian assistance includes essential relief supplies and emergency relief packages, such as kitchenware, hygiene kits, and shelter kits. This assistance will also be channeled through United Nations agencies and the Vietnamese Government.
Australian Minister Penny Wong shared: “We know that recovery from the storm will take time, and as a long-standing friend and partner, Australia stands with Vietnam in these difficult times. Australia will continue to cooperate with Vietnam in emergency relief efforts and strengthening resilience to natural disasters.”
Australia's assistance will help provide timely support to families and communities affected by the recent devastating storms. The two countries are also working to ensure that families and vulnerable people in Vietnam, including women, children, and people with disabilities, receive timely support after the two storms.
