A delegation from the Canadian Embassy and the FAO worked in Yen Binh and Tran Yen communes.

On December 11th, a delegation from the Canadian Embassy, ​​led by Ms. Francesca Bellone, Development Cooperation Counsellor, Canadian Embassy in Vietnam, along with a delegation from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Vietnam, surveyed the implementation of the project "Sustainable Livelihood Restoration, Prioritizing Gender Factors for Northern Mountainous Provinces Affected by Typhoon Yagi" in Yen Binh and Tran Yen communes.

A delegation from the Canadian Embassy, ​​together with the FAO, provided fertilizer assistance to residents of Da Chong village, Yen Binh commune, through exchange vouchers.

In Yen Binh commune, a delegation from the Canadian Embassy and the FAO in Vietnam, in coordination with the Yen Binh Commune People's Committee and the Department of Crop Production, Plant Protection, and Livestock, Veterinary, and Fisheries, provided agricultural supplies to 228 households in Da Chong village severely affected by Typhoon Yagi. Each household received 350 kg of various fertilizers (nitrogen, NPK, and potassium) through exchange vouchers. This activity is part of the project "Sustainable Livelihood Restoration, Prioritizing Gender Factors for Northern Mountainous Provinces Affected by Typhoon Yagi," funded by the Canadian Government through the FAO, with the goal of helping people quickly restore agricultural production, stabilize their lives, and enhance their resilience to natural disasters.

Each household receives 350 kg of fertilizer (nitrogen, NPK, potassium) through a voucher system.

Following Typhoon Yagi, the project provided seeds and fertilizers to over 6,800 households in 11 communes of Lao Cai province, contributing to the restoration of agricultural production, enhancing disaster and climate change resilience; and promoting the proactive role of women and ethnic minority groups in developing sustainable livelihoods, towards climate-smart agriculture.

Following the support program, the delegation visited the household of Mr. Tran Van Thu in Da Chong village, Yen Binh commune - one of the households affected by Typhoon Yagi and which benefited from the project.

Next, the delegation surveyed several areas frequently affected by natural disasters and assessed the situation of agricultural production restoration in Tran Yen commune. Through the survey, the delegation highly appreciated the proactive and effective implementation of response and recovery measures by the local government and people, especially in restoring cultivated areas, stabilizing livelihoods, and ensuring community safety. The delegation affirmed that it will continue to provide technical support for farming and develop disaster-adaptive livelihood models, contributing to strengthening resilience and moving towards sustainable development for the people in the future.
