“The great victory in the spring of 1975 is an immortal heroic epic, the greatest feat in the glorious history of building and defending the country of our people under the wise and talented leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the great President Ho Chi Minh. That victory ended more than 100 years of colonialism and imperialism,” said Comrade Nguyen Ho Hai - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee at the meeting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification on April 26.
Attending the meeting were former Central leaders: Nguyen Tan Dung, Politburo member, Prime Minister; Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Politburo member, National Assembly Chairwoman; General Le Hong Anh, Politburo member, former Standing member of the Secretariat; Huynh Dam, Party Central Committee member, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.
Also attending the meeting were leaders of the provinces: Kien Giang, Bac Lieu ; Koh Kong (Cambodia); Kham Muon (Laos); former provincial leaders of different periods, historical witnesses...
In the sacred, emotional and proud moment of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the victory in the spring of 1975, liberating the South and unifying the country, on behalf of the leaders and people of Ca Mau province, comrade Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, respectfully remembers and expresses gratitude to the great President Ho Chi Minh, the genius leader, the Hero of National Liberation, who has made our country and people glorious.
“We would like to express our deep gratitude to the revolutionary predecessors, and remember the countless soldiers, compatriots, and comrades who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. We will forever remember and be grateful for the great sacrifices and losses of the heroic Vietnamese Mothers, Heroes of the People's Armed Forces, war invalids, martyrs, families with meritorious services to the country... those who have brought peace, independence, freedom, and unity to the Fatherland today,” said Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Ho Hai.
Although it is a remote, difficult and deprived land, the Party Committee, army and people of Ca Mau have always followed the Party with all their heart. During the years of resistance, Ca Mau, together with the people of the South and the people of the whole country, fought bravely and achieved many resounding victories. Ca Mau has become a solid base of the Southern revolution, a place where many high-ranking leaders of the Party and the State have stood and operated. Overcoming countless difficulties and losses, the people of Ca Mau have contributed a lot of human and material resources to serve the revolution: more than 17,000 soldiers have sacrificed; more than 16,000 wounded soldiers have left a part of their blood and bones on the battlefield; more than 2,500 heroic Vietnamese mothers have said goodbye to their loved ones; tens of thousands of families have rendered great service to the country. All of those sacrifices, losses and great contributions were for a common ideal and aspiration: "Fight to drive out the Americans, fight to overthrow the puppet regime", liberate the South, and unify the country.
Over the past 50 years, since the country's reunification, the Party Committee and the people of the province have joined hands with the whole country to successfully carry out the task of building and defending the Fatherland. From a poor province, heavily devastated by war, but with the spirit of solidarity, unity and consensus, the Party Committee, government and people of Ca Mau province have overcome all difficulties and hardships, constantly striving, determined to build the homeland richer and more beautiful. After many years of striving, up to now, Ca Mau has gradually narrowed the gap with other localities, gradually rising to keep up with the general development of the whole country. The province's economy has continuously developed over the years, the average income per capita has been among the top in the region (nearly 73 million VND), the poverty rate is below 1%, the economic - social infrastructure is increasingly spacious and modern, 100% of commune centers can be reached by car, many key traffic routes are connected, breaking the monopoly; Airports and seaports are being invested in; social security is increasingly ensured; people's material and spiritual lives are increasingly improved.
Comrade Nguyen Ho Hai, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, determined: "With the heroic and indomitable tradition and strong aspirations for development, the Party Committee, government and people of Ca Mau province vow to continue to write glorious pages of history in the new era, making people's lives increasingly prosperous and happy, worthy of the trust of the people and the great sacrifices of previous generations".
