On May 31st, information from the People's Committee of Phu Xuan commune ( Thanh Hoa province ) confirmed that six people in the area had suffered food poisoning after eating stink bugs.
According to initial information, on the afternoon of May 27th, a group of people in Sa Lắng village caught about 0.3 kg of stink bugs on wild eggplant plants along the Mã River and brought them home to prepare as a dish.
That evening, six people, including Mr. PBT (60 years old), H.D.T. (42 years old), HVN (43 years old), P.D.T. (43 years old), Ms. HTQ (36 years old), and CTL (37 years old), ate together.

At the meal, besides the stink bugs, there was also stir-fried pork, stream fish soup with cherry tomatoes, pumpkin soup (homegrown), and wine (purchased wine; three people drank wine: Mr. H.D.T., HVN, and P.D.T.).
By the morning of May 28th, Mr. PBT was experiencing symptoms of abdominal pain, nausea, headache, neck and shoulder pain, and back pain. At noon that same day, his relatives took him to Quan Hoa General Hospital for emergency treatment.
From morning to afternoon on May 29th, all five people who ate stink bugs experienced symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, headache, neck and shoulder pain, and back pain, similar to Mr. PBT, so their relatives took them to Quan Hoa General Hospital for emergency treatment.

According to the diagnosis, the patients suffered from food poisoning due to contaminated food.
By May 30th, all patients suspected of food poisoning from eating stink bugs had been transferred to Thanh Hoa Provincial General Hospital for further treatment and monitoring. Currently, the patients' health has stabilized.
Following the incident, the People's Committee of Phu Xuan commune directed the commune's health station to coordinate with relevant units to strengthen propaganda and advise people not to hunt, process, or use insects such as stink bugs, strange worms, etc.
