Responding to a reporter from VTC News, the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board stated that the intelligent transportation system, along with 78 AI cameras, is being urgently installed by relevant units on the North-South expressway section from Van Ninh to Cam Lo.

According to the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board, these 78 AI cameras are tasked with monitoring traffic, detecting vehicles, identifying violations and incidents on the route to support the management and operation of the Van Ninh-Cam Lo expressway.

Along with the AI camera system, this highway is also equipped with 8 VMS electronic signage, 16 information signs, and 4 electronic toll collection stations, with a total of 14 lanes.

In addition, the Van Ninh - Cam Lo expressway is equipped with 7 automated weighing lanes at the toll station entrances to enhance vehicle weight control, contributing to traffic safety and protecting road infrastructure.

By the end of May 2026, the installation of intelligent transportation systems (ITS) on the Van Ninh-Cam Lo expressway had reached approximately 95%.

Once completed, all data from devices along the route will be connected to the Operations Center located at the National Highway 9D intersection to serve the management, monitoring, and operation of the expressway in a modern and synchronized manner.

"The intelligent transportation system and AI cameras installed on the Van Ninh-Cam Lo expressway are expected to begin trial operation in June. Official operation and toll collection will commence in July...", the Ho Chi Minh Highway Project Management Board stated.

According to this unit, completing the intelligent transportation system on the route is considered crucial, especially in the context of increasing traffic volume on the North-South expressways.

The ITS system will help quickly detect abnormal situations, traffic incidents, congestion, illegally parked vehicles, or other safety hazards on the route.

Based on data transmitted to the control center, the management unit can monitor traffic conditions in real time, issue warnings, regulate traffic, and coordinate the handling of incidents promptly. This also forms the basis for improving the efficiency of the expressway's operation after it is put into full operation.
