On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025), Vietnam News Agency (VNA) in coordination with the Hanoi People's Committee organized the talk show "80-year memories - Historic Autumn."
The event took place at 9:30 a.m. on August 22 at the Capital Press Center (17 Dien Bien Phu Street, Hanoi) and was broadcast live on the digital platforms of VNA and Hanoi City.
The discussion is an opportunity to look back, express gratitude and spread the immortal values of the August Revolution - the milestone of the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, opening an era of independence and freedom for the nation. This is also an opportunity to honor the bravery, spirit and aspiration of Hanoians; at the same time, inspire the younger generation to love, be proud, and together build Hanoi to be more civilized, modern and sustainably developed.
The seminar was honored to have the participation of prestigious speakers and guests: Mr. Nguyen Van Phong, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee; Associate Professor, Doctor Bui Hoai Son, Standing Member of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Education ; Professor, Doctor of Science Vu Minh Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, Member of the National Cultural Heritage Council.
In addition, the program has the presence of researchers, artists, representatives of the creative community and outstanding students of the Capital.
Speaking before the discussion, VNA Deputy Director General Nguyen Thi Su (representing the host unit) said that the discussion was not only an opportunity to review the glorious history but also to affirm the vitality of history in today's life. From there, it fostered more pride, responsibility and aspiration to contribute to the capital and the country.
The seminar consisted of 3 main parts corresponding to 3 stages of Hanoi's development, including: Hanoi - the heart of the Revolution (speakers looked back at the special role of Hanoi in the August 19 General Uprising, analyzed the historical decisions that changed the fate of the nation, and affirmed the resilience of Hanoians in the historic Autumn of 1945); The Capital - The sacred soul of national culture (emphasizing the role of Hanoi as a center of thousand-year-old culture, where the quintessence and convergence of Vietnamese identity are crystallized); Hanoi's youth - Heritage and aspirations to rise (an inspirational highlight, highlighting the role of the young generation of the Capital in inheriting traditions and realizing the aspiration to develop a creative and dynamic city).
According to the Organizing Committee, the discussion will not stop at reminiscing, but will aim at dialogue, connection, and suggestions to promote historical and cultural values, considering them as the foundation for the sustainable development of Hanoi in the new period.
With the message “From heroic memories to future aspirations,” the talk show “80-year memories - Historic autumn” is expected to bring many profound perspectives, arouse pride and urge the young generation to continue writing the golden history of Hanoi - the heart of the whole country.../.
