8.6 thousand newly established enterprises in February 2024

(MPI) - According to Report No. 37/BC-TCTK dated February 29, 2024 of the General Statistics Office, Ministry of Planning and Investment , in February this year, the whole country had nearly 8,600 newly established enterprises with registered capital of 67.3 trillion VND and registered labor force of nearly 50,900 employees, down 36.5% in number of enterprises, down 55.6% in registered capital and down 50.8% in number of employees compared to January 2024.

Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises decreased by 2.8%, the registered capital increased by 2.6% and the number of employees decreased by 0.3%. The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the month reached 7.8 billion VND, down 30% compared to the previous month and up 5.6% compared to the same period in 2023. In addition, the whole country also had more than 5.3 thousand enterprises returning to operation, down 61.3% compared to the previous month and up 36% compared to the same period in 2023.

In the first two months of 2024, the whole country had more than 22.1 thousand newly registered enterprises with a total registered capital of VND 218.7 trillion and a total registered number of employees of 154.3 thousand, an increase of 12.4% in the number of enterprises, an increase of 32.8% in registered capital and an increase of 29% in the number of employees compared to the same period last year. The average registered capital of a newly established enterprise in the first two months of 2024 reached VND 9.9 billion, an increase of 18.2% compared to the same period in 2023.

In addition, nearly 19,000 enterprises nationwide returned to operation (up 4.4% over the same period in 2023), bringing the total number of newly established enterprises and enterprises returning to operation in the first two months of 2024 to nearly 41,100 enterprises, up 8.5% over the same period last year. On average, more than 20,500 enterprises were newly established and returned to operation per month.

By economic sector, in the first two months of 2024, there were 236 newly established enterprises in the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector, up 19.2% over the same period last year; 5.3 thousand enterprises in the industry and construction sector, up 12.1%; 16.6 thousand enterprises in the service sector, up 12.4%.

Also in February, 5,146 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business for a period of time, down 88.3% compared to the previous month and up 35.3% compared to the same period in 2023; 2,153 enterprises stopped operating pending dissolution procedures, down 72.4% and down 18.3%; 1,506 enterprises completed dissolution procedures, down 30.4% and up 29%.

In the first two months of 2024, the number of enterprises temporarily suspending business was nearly 49.3 thousand, up 27.1% over the same period last year; 10 thousand enterprises suspended operations pending dissolution procedures, up 6.5%; nearly 3.7 thousand enterprises completed dissolution procedures, up 14.5%. On average, nearly 31.5 thousand enterprises withdrew from the market each month./.
