A study from Google's DORA division revealed that 90% of developers have used AI, up 14% from last year. AI is assisting from writing, editing, testing code to creating documentation and deploying software.
Google's Ryan J. Salva emphasizes that it's inevitable that engineers will use AI every day. However, the survey also found that trust in code written by AI is limited and requires human supervision.
CNN notes that the number of software engineer job postings has decreased by 71% from 2022 to 2025, reflecting the shrinking job market. The unemployment rate for computer science graduates is currently much higher than for other majors.
