Long Thanh commune was established by merging four administrative units: Binh Son, Loc An, Long An communes and Long Thanh town, covering an area of 130.12 km2 and with a population of over 93,000 people. Long Thanh possesses a particularly important geographical location, situated in the center of the Southern key economic region, approximately 40 km east of Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent to dynamic industrial areas such as Nhon Trach (Dong Nai) and the former Ba Ria - Vung Tau port industrial zone. This location not only offers convenient transportation but also places Long Thanh within an important "Southeast urban chain".

(10-25%); average annual economic growth of 10-15%; average per capita income reaching 93.5 million VND/year. Along with that, the commune has strongly developed industry, trade and services; successfully implemented the criteria for advanced new rural development, with all four former communes and towns having model residential areas... These achievements are an important foundation and driving force for Long Thanh to continue reaping successes in the future.
With its unique advantages, entering the 2025-2030 term, the entire Party Committee, military, and people of Long Thanh commune are united in demonstrating high political determination, with the goal of leveraging the strength of the entire Party Committee and resolutely striving to build Long Thanh commune into a central urban area by 2030.
At the First Congress of the Long Thanh Commune Party Committee, for the 2025-2030 term, the Long Thanh Commune Party Committee clearly identified three breakthrough areas. One of these is: Focusing on the comprehensive investment in transportation and social infrastructure within the commune, connecting with inter-regional transportation, essential technical infrastructure, and digital infrastructure; simultaneously developing modern urban areas and commercial-service zones around Long Thanh Airport; creating a breakthrough to transform Long Thanh commune into an urban area and achieve sustainable development.
The Resolution of the First Congress of the Long Thanh Commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, sets out several targets such as: an average annual growth rate of 14.24% in the total value of products in the commune; annual state budget revenue reaching and exceeding the assigned target; an annual disbursement rate of over 95% for public investment capital; and an increase of 46.93% in per capita income by 2030 compared to 2025...

Attending and directing the First Congress of the Long Thanh Commune Party Committee, term 2025-2030, Comrade Vu Hong Van, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, emphasized: Long Thanh Airport - the largest national infrastructure project in Southeast Asia - is a special advantage. This is not only a transportation project but also a driving force, creating momentum for socio-economic development in the region and the whole country, and a direct development opportunity for Long Thanh commune.
According to the Provincial Party Secretary, the Long Thanh Airport's operation will attract residents and workers, leading to increased demand for housing, services, and commerce; this will promote the development of new urban areas, residential areas, and eco- and smart urban areas. Along with this, it will trigger a series of other large-scale projects such as: high-tech industrial parks, export processing zones, logistics, supporting services, international trade and finance, strongly attracting domestic and foreign investment. In addition, to connect the airport with neighboring areas and economic centers, a series of transportation infrastructure projects will be implemented, including: expressways, railways, bridges, and a modern public transportation system. These combined advantages have created a solid foundation for Long Thanh to develop into a modern urban center, becoming a commercial, service, and logistics hub combined with tourism and resort activities, and a strategic investment destination in the Southern key economic region.
The Provincial Party Secretary emphasized: The Long Thanh commune Party Committee must make the most of this advantage to focus on leadership and guidance to create breakthrough momentum. It must proactively plan and attract investment in logistics, trade, high-tech industries, and aviation support services; creating a foundation to attract investment capital and develop the economy rapidly and sustainably...
