According to Chosun Ilbo , the break-in occurred around 9 PM on May 20th at Bukchon Hanok Village in Jongno District, Seoul. The suspect is a man in his 40s, accused of breaking into the actress's residence to commit robbery.

During the commission of the crime, the suspect was discovered by a woman who lived with Kim Gyu Ri. According to Seoul Newspaper , both the actress and her roommate were injured while trying to escape the dangerous situation. After being discovered, the suspect quickly fled the scene. However, just a few hours later, he turned himself in at the local police station.

According to Yonhap News , police are investigating the man on charges related to robbery and assault. Meanwhile, MK Korea reported that authorities are considering the possibility that the suspect had premeditated the attack.

Koreaboo, citing information from the initial call, reported that those inside the house panicked and cried for help, fearing they would be overpowered. Local police quickly sealed off the scene and collected security camera footage from the surrounding area to aid in the investigation.

Several witnesses living near Bukchon Hanok Village said the area is usually quite quiet in the evenings, even though it's crowded with tourists during the day. Therefore, news of the break-in came as a surprise to many local residents.
