The recent historic flood caused extensive damage to property and infrastructure in the province. According to statistics from the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue, the flood resulted in 5 deaths, damaged over 20,000 houses, isolated over 5,300 houses, and forced the emergency relocation of over 5,000 households. It also destroyed over 5,000 hectares of rice, nearly 2,000 hectares of corn and vegetables, 500 hectares of annual crops, 660 hectares of fruit trees, over 650 hectares of forestry trees, over 1,500 livestock, and more than 7,500 poultry, along with numerous infrastructure projects including roads, bridges, factories, schools, and government offices. The estimated total damage exceeds 1.2 trillion VND.

In Yen Son district, on September 12th, while the devastating floods were still raging, Agribank leaders personally delivered money to share the difficulties with the affected people. Mr. Nguyen Huu Phuong, Chairman of the Yen Son District People's Committee, shared: "To date, people have been carrying out activities to overcome the consequences of the floods, but it is truly difficult, especially regarding livelihoods and repairing houses. Currently, in some localities, many houses have been severely damaged and are difficult to repair."

Therefore, the assistance and support from Agribank in particular, and other organizations, individuals, and businesses in general, will be a great source of encouragement for the district to support those affected by the floods, helping people overcome difficulties and quickly stabilize their lives. It is known that, in addition to the 110 million VND donated to the district, Agribank also provided gifts to individuals severely affected by the floods.

Agribank leaders provide support to Yen Son district to help overcome the consequences of natural disasters caused by storms and floods.

In Ham Yen district, the Agribank delegation directly provided 110 million VND in support. Mr. Tran Van Du, Deputy General Director of Agribank, affirmed: The money and gifts were mobilized from contributions by all union members, officials, and employees in the Agribank system. The Agribank team wishes to send its concern and support to the flood victims during this difficult time.

Along with emergency social welfare programs, the entire Agribank system, in coordination with local authorities, continues to implement programs such as "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses," building "Great Solidarity Houses," "Adding literacy, reducing poverty," and "Supporting students to school"; and programs to donate social insurance books and health insurance cards to people in difficult circumstances. In the first half of September alone, Agribank's Tuyen Quang branch spent nearly 200 million VND on social welfare policies.

Besides its social welfare activities, Agribank continues to effectively maintain its business plans, decisively implementing solutions to fulfill its assigned political tasks, and has achieved many positive results in various aspects of its operations. Over the past period, Agribank has proactively and flexibly provided credit capital to the economy and served production and business activities, focusing on three main growth drivers: consumption, exports, and investment, and prioritizing five key sectors including exports, agriculture, high technology, small and medium-sized enterprises, and supporting industries.

In particular, since the beginning of 2024, Agribank has implemented many solutions to increase access to capital and promote credit growth, including proactively adjusting and reducing lending interest rates, and implementing credit programs totaling thousands of billions of VND with preferential interest rates to encourage and support customers in using capital.

In implementing Resolution No. 143/NQ-CP on key tasks and solutions to urgently overcome the consequences of Typhoon No. 3, quickly stabilize the situation of the people, promote the restoration of production and business, actively promote economic growth, and control inflation, Agribank is applying a policy of reducing lending interest rates for customers affected in the provinces and cities directly impacted by Typhoon No. 3 and the subsequent floods. Accordingly, for existing outstanding loans (including VND and USD) as of September 6, 2024, based on the extent of customer damage, Agribank will reduce lending interest rates by 0.5% to 2% per year and waive 100% of overdue and late payment interest for the period from September 6 to December 31, 2024.

In addition, to support customers in stabilizing their lives and restoring production and business activities, for new loans disbursed from September 6th to December 31st, 2024, Agribank will reduce the lending interest rate by 0.5% per year for each customer and sector, applicable for a maximum of 6 months from the date of disbursement. Mr. Tran Van Du, Deputy General Director of Agribank, said: "Initially, Agribank requires its branches to compile lists and assess the extent of damage to customers, thereby developing plans for debt restructuring, debt deferral, interest rate reduction, etc.; and to issue credit packages with reasonable interest rates and appropriate scale to support people and businesses in recovering after the storm."

With its responsibility to the community and its proactive and flexible approach to implementing credit policy solutions, Agribank further strengthens customers' trust in a bank that serves the community.
