Male student won the only Gold Medal for the Vietnamese delegation at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad

With a big dream and a tireless learning spirit, Nguyen The Quan - Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted (Nghe An) has excellently won the only Gold Medal for the Vietnamese delegation at the International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) 2025 held in the French Republic.

This is the second Gold Medal of this school year for Nguyen The Quan. He was crowned champion at the Asia- Pacific Physics Olympiad and won the National First Prize in Physics. This achievement recognizes Quan’s personal efforts and is the pride of the education sector of Nghe An province in particular and Vietnam in general.

Gold medal from the dream of "going beyond limits"

At this year’s international intellectual arena, the 2025 International Physics Olympiad gathered 406 excellent candidates from 94 countries and territories. After two days of fierce competition with theoretical and experimental sections, Nguyen The Quan excelled in the world’s second place in the experimental section – an extremely impressive achievement, helping him bring home the prestigious Gold Medal.

Previously, when he was in grade 11, Quan won a Bronze Medal at the Asian Physics Olympiad, a clear testament to his perseverance and constant progress. In just one year, from being a national-level excellent student, he rose to become one of the world's best students in Physics.

This is Quan's personal mark, as well as the common result of a process of companionship and guidance from teachers, encouragement from family, and an inspiring learning environment at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Mr. Le Xuan Bao - the homeroom teacher, who also directly taught Physics to Quan - could not hide his pride when mentioning his special student: "Quan is intelligent, hard-working, has a high spirit of self-study and is very serious about the path he has chosen. He does not only study for exams but also studies to understand, to love, to explore ."

"Fire" inspires

Unlike the image of a student who is always stuck in books or confined to the classroom curriculum, Nguyen The Quan chooses to study proactively and creatively. He spends a lot of time researching international documents, challenging himself through in-depth academic exams, and regularly exchanging knowledge with friends who share the same passion.

"I believe that self-study and perseverance are the keys to reaching any goal. Even with guidance from teachers, you must constantly explore and surpass yourself to go far," Quan sincerely shared.

The stressful days of studying for exams did not discourage him. On the contrary, his passion for Physics became a great source of motivation for Quan to overcome challenges and conquer each peak of knowledge.

With two Olympic Gold Medals in one year, Nguyen The Quan was admitted directly to domestic universities. Currently, he is considering studying Physics at the University of Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, while cherishing the dream of studying abroad to access more modern science and develop himself comprehensively.

Ms. Cao Thi Lan Thanh - Principal of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted - was moved: "The achievement that Quan has achieved is a completely worthy result of his continuous efforts. It is not only the pride of the school but also a source of inspiration for many generations of students studying here."
