Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung emphasized that the inauguration of the Coherent factory, in Nhon Trach Industrial Park, marks an important step forward in the global technology development strategy of Coherent Group; at the same time, it is a vivid demonstration of the increasing trust of the world's leading technology corporations in the investment environment and development potential of Vietnam.

This is also a worthy achievement for Vietnam's efforts in attracting investment in strategic technology sectors, developing the semiconductor and high-tech industries.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung informed that recently, Vietnam has made great strides in developing science and technology and innovation, especially in the semiconductor industry.

In 2024, Vietnam was ranked 44/133 countries and economies in the global innovation index, up 2 places compared to 2023 and is the only country that has always had innovation results higher than its development level over the past 14 years.

The fact that Coherent, one of the world's leading corporations in the field of materials, equipment and components serving the semiconductor and electronics industry, continues to expand its investment activities in Vietnam opens up many opportunities for extensive cooperation in human resource training, knowledge and technology transfer.

This project will also create thousands of stable, quality jobs for thousands of highly skilled and technical workers. In particular, Coherent's products will directly serve many of the world's leading corporations in the fields of AI and big data, thereby enhancing Vietnam's position in the global technology value chain.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that Coherent continue to expand its investment in depth in Vietnam, especially in stages with “higher” added value in the semiconductor industry value chain; pay attention to training and using high-quality human resources in Vietnam, and strengthen connections with research institutes and universities to form a comprehensive and sustainable innovation ecosystem.

For Dong Nai province, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung suggested continuing to improve the business investment environment, promoting administrative procedure reform, digital transformation, investing in a synchronous transport infrastructure system, and developing high-quality human resources, especially in the fields of semiconductors and AI.

The factory inaugurated today in Nhon Trach 1 Industrial Park has a total investment of 127 million USD, specializing in the production of Silicon Carbide panels, glass and advanced optical devices.
