On May 29, 2026, the Kick-off event for the AIoT Developer InnoWorks 2026 competition officially took place at Phenikaa University, with the participation of 15 universities, business representatives, sponsors, technology experts, and a large number of undergraduate and postgraduate students.
The atmosphere of the program reflected the growing appeal of emerging technology fields such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, big data, cloud computing, and automation. For engineering students, this was not just a competition, but also an opportunity to test their skills against problems closely related to real-world applications in manufacturing, urban planning, energy, and the environment.
The AIoT InnoWorks 2026 competition embodies the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on the development of science, technology, innovation, and national digital transformation. The competition focuses on areas such as AI, IoT, big data, automation, and smart technology platforms – all crucial fields in building a technological workforce for Vietnam.
All fields of science and technology are directly related to the National Strategic Technology Sectors as defined in Decision No. 21/2026/QD-Ttg of the Prime Minister.
The AIoT Developer InnoWorks 2026, initiated and sponsored by Advantech Group, is hosted by Phenikaa University, with professional support from the Vietnam Radio and Electronics Association.
According to the organizational plan, the competition aims to connect students with experts, businesses, and modern technological tools; and at the same time help learners hone their research, design, programming, hardware-software integration, and interdisciplinary product development skills.
This year, the competing teams focused on three main themes: smart factories/smart manufacturing, smart cities, and energy and environment. These are all application areas that are attracting attention from businesses and society, especially in the context of digital transformation and sustainable development becoming practical requirements in many fields.
The competition builds upon the prestige of InnoWorks from its previous six seasons, where many student teams have developed practical AIoT solutions. Advantech's partnership provides the technological platform and implementation expertise. The InnoWorks 2026 AIoT competition is professionally sponsored by the Vietnam Radio and Electronics Association, ensuring a high-quality competition with cutting-edge technology.
For Phenikaa University, hosting AIoT InnoWorks 2026 is of practical significance to its orientation of engineering training linked to practice, research, and innovation.
Training programs such as: Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering, specializing in Intelligent Embedded Systems and IoT (program code: EEE3), Mechatronics Engineering, specializing in Intelligent Mechatronics Systems (program code: MEM1-IMS), Automotive Mechatronics (program code: VEE3), along with related fields such as robotics, automation, information technology, artificial intelligence, energy, and control engineering, all offer problems in the competition that are very close to their learning and research content.
This year's competition prizes also provide additional motivation for participating teams. The main prize structure includes 1 first prize worth 50 million VND, 2 second prizes of 25 million VND each, 3 third prizes of 10 million VND each, 4 consolation prizes of 5 million VND each, and 20 support prizes of 2 million VND each for teams that qualify.
In addition, the organizers also awarded supplementary prizes for ideas with practical applications, professional presentations, and the most popular team.
