According to the Algerian Football Federation, Ibrahim Maza is one of seven midfielders included in Algeria's World Cup squad, alongside experienced players such as Nabil Bentaleb and Houssem Aouar.
Notably, Maza, born in 2005, has an Algerian father and a Vietnamese mother. Growing up in Germany, the 20-year-old player previously represented the country's youth teams before deciding to represent Algeria at the international level. Currently, the Vietnamese-born prodigy is valued at €45 million (according to Transfermarkt) and is the most expensive player of Vietnamese descent in the world .
This call-up is seen as a well-deserved reward for Maza's outstanding performance in the 2025-2026 season. Playing for Bayer Leverkusen, the young midfielder made 28 appearances, including 20 starts, scoring 3 goals and providing 4 assists.

Possessing excellent individual technique, impressive dribbling, passing, and long-range shooting abilities, Maza can fill multiple roles in both the attacking and midfield lines.
In addition to his preferred attacking midfield position, he also performs effectively on both wings, in the center of midfield, and can even be used as a striker when needed.
German media recently reported that the Vietnamese-born talent is being eyed by Barcelona, a team reportedly valuing the young player's versatility, speed, and ability to create game-changing moments.
