In a conversation with Tri Thuc - Zing News , Miguel Santos, the coach who worked with Ruben Amorim at Sporting CP, revealed his former colleague's coaching style. Mr. Santos believes that Amorim needs to receive maximum support from the MU leadership if he wants to change the club's performance in the future.

Amorim is hard to change

- The pressure on Amorim is huge right now. Should he change MU's tactics?

- During my time working with Amorim at Sporting, I noticed that he hardly changed much in terms of playing style. If anything, it was just a few small details, such as the speed of play or the way the players moved on the field.

With the current United, Amorim is still loyal to the philosophy of controlling the game with a midfield that always moves forward. That is the style that brought him success at Sporting, and I believe he will continue to stick with it. Amorim is a smart coach who knows how to analyze problems, but it is very difficult for him to change the system at United.

- Amorim decided to liquidate a series of faces such as Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho or Andre Onana. Should he be the one to take full responsibility for the current results?

- Amorim has complete control at Old Trafford, so when the team fails it is his responsibility. I am not sure if this is the best squad Amorim wanted, but he must have an explanation for the recent results.

The positive thing is that through the interviews, I saw that Amorim clearly understood what he was doing. The MU leadership also knew his ability and allowed him to follow his own path, so all results, whether good or bad, were decided by Amorim.

The Problem of Amorim

- With your experience working with Amorim, what do you think his current problem is?

- I think Amorim is not the problem, but the whole MU team. Previously, Jose Mourinho said MU needed to change many things, but the board did not take any action, then he had to leave. Then, Cristiano Ronaldo also pointed out the limitations of the club and then everything repeated. With Erik ten Hag, it also took them a few years, but the team at that time was not of the level to play for MU.

Now Amorim wants to change the philosophy and style of play at United. The board has made significant changes, starting with building a more modern academy. It is an important step, but not enough.

Amorim cannot change a team in just 6 months or 1 year. In my opinion, he needs at least 3-4 more transfer windows to bring in quality players and change the way of playing football here. If the board is patient, MU will enjoy the results. If not, they will have to find a new coach.

Mr. Miguel Santos once worked with Ruben Amorim in Portugal.

- In your coaching career, have you ever experienced something similar to Amorim?

- Yes, I had to change half of the team to find new players and rebuild the fighting spirit. Luckily for me, the management gave me the opportunity and time. I think Amorim also needed that.

A coach's ideas can only be successful if they are communicated strongly and the players believe in them completely. MU needs time and a comfortable environment to develop. In addition, the board can consider adding a few experienced faces to the coaching staff to support Amorim. This will give him more support in rebuilding the team.

Thank you for this conversation.

Looking back at Man City's 3-0 thrashing of MU On the evening of September 14, MU lost 0-3 to Man City in round 14 of the Premier League.
