According to Pham Thi Thu Dan, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Chau commune, patriotic emulation campaigns and movements are implemented with a focus on the grassroots level, closely adhering to the political tasks and key priorities of the locality. The forms of propaganda and mobilization are innovative, diverse, and suitable for each social group and residential area. At the same time, the Fatherland Front strengthens coordination with the government and relevant departments to mobilize the people to actively participate in building new rural areas, achieving sustainable poverty reduction, and ensuring national defense and security. “In response to the emulation movement ‘The whole country joins hands for the poor - Leaving no one behind,’ every year we coordinate with relevant agencies and hamlet people's committees to review and compile a list of the specific conditions and circumstances of each poor household in order to provide timely, appropriate, and compliant support. At the same time, we innovate the content and methods of propaganda and mobilization to encourage people to actively participate in poverty reduction programs and models, gradually striving to escape poverty sustainably,” Ms. Thu Dan shared.
More than two months into his new, spacious, and sturdy house, Mr. Nguyen Van Chon, residing in Tan Thanh hamlet, still radiates joy. The house, measuring over 32 square meters, was built with a zinc frame, corrugated iron roof, and corrugated iron walls, meeting the "three sturdy" criteria (referring to its structural integrity). The total cost was nearly 60 million VND, of which 30 million VND was contributed by philanthropists, with the remainder contributed by his family and raised through local government efforts. "Thanks to that, my family now has a solid house and no longer worries about leaks when it rains. Now my wife and I can focus on working and earning money to ensure our youngest daughter gets a proper education," Mr. Chon shared.
Adhering to the motto "openness, transparency, timeliness, and targeting the right beneficiaries," and with the spirit of "leaving no one behind," in 2025, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Chau commune mobilized nearly 4.8 billion VND for the fund for the poor and social welfare. From this funding, the locality built and renovated 52 solidarity houses; provided medical examinations for over 1,350 people; visited and presented gifts to over 5,380 poor households; provided emergency assistance to nearly 1,260 cases; and built one new rural bridge and renovated one existing bridge.
Mr. Lieu Soc, Head of the Front Committee of Hoa Tan Hamlet, said: “The hamlet has a large Khmer population, so we always pay attention to disseminating the Party and State's policies, especially those for ethnic minorities. We understand the circumstances of each household and provide timely assistance to help them escape poverty through specific and appropriate actions. To date, the hamlet only has 10 poor households and 5 near-poor households.”
Political and social organizations continue to play a bridging role between the State and the people through the establishment and effective management of savings and loan groups at the grassroots level, creating conditions for the poor and policy beneficiaries to access preferential credit sources to develop production and business. Farmers apply scientific and technical advancements, transform the structure of crops and livestock, contributing to increased income and rapid and sustainable poverty reduction. Recently introduced by the Farmers' Association of the commune and hamlet, Mr. Nguyen Binh Luan, residing in Hoa Thanh hamlet, borrowed 50 million VND from the Social Policy Bank to invest in planting nearly 2 hectares of cucumbers. “I am very happy to receive a low-interest loan. With capital, I am more proactive in buying seeds, fertilizers, hiring laborers, and can focus on production and repaying the principal and interest on time,” Mr. Luan shared.
According to Ms. Pham Thi Thu Dan, in the coming time, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the commune and its member organizations will continue to innovate and improve the quality of propaganda and mobilization work, launching widespread emulation movements among all strata of the people. At the same time, they will promote socialization, mobilizing all resources to effectively implement social welfare programs associated with vocational training, job creation, transfer of scientific and technical advancements, and support for preferential loans, creating motivation for the poor to strive in labor and production to improve their lives.
| With many effective and innovative approaches and practical models, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Chau commune has promoted the strength of national unity, mobilizing all resources to effectively care for the people's lives. This has contributed to reducing the multidimensional poverty rate to 3.06%; and raising the average per capita income to nearly 81.2 million VND by 2025. |
