The above diner - a man nicknamed Kaito on Twitter - bought a cup of udon noodles during a business trip to Nagasaki province - Japan.
On May 21, this person went to the Marugame Seimen store in Isahaya City and ordered a bowl of Shake Udon noodles. After mixing the seasoning and shaking the cup of noodles, he happily enjoyed the attractive dish.
It was only after he had finished his cup noodles that he discovered a live green frog swimming in the soup. Kaito shared a video of himself using chopsticks to pick the frog out of the cup noodles, and warned anyone planning to consume Marugame Seimen products.
According to Mr. Kaito, the Marugame Seimen store was temporarily closed for three hours that day but continued operating in the evening, serving similar Shake Udon cups.
On its website, Marugame Seimen confirmed the incident and apologized to Mr. Kaito. The frog was reportedly stuffed into the cup noodles at a vegetable processing plant. Marugame Seimen said it would step up inspections at all of its factories and work with factories that process raw vegetables.
The new Shake Udon Cup was added to the menu of Marugame Seimen stores and sold more than 200,000 cups in the first 3 days since May 16.
Marugame Seimen currently owns more than 1,000 stores in and outside Japan.
Previously, on May 11, a frog was also found in a salad purchased from a supermarket in Nagano, Central Japan.
