An Giang: Rice broker who defrauded many people turns himself in

On the morning of August 1, the Office of the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police announced that after a period of being pursued and persuaded, Danh Quanh (born in 1980, residing in Van Thanh Hamlet, Hon Dat Commune, Kien Giang Province, now An Giang Province) turned himself in to the police. Quanh is a subject wanted by the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Province Police for fraud and appropriation of property.

According to the case file, around December 2023 and January 2024, Danh Quanh and a number of other subjects did not have any cultivated land, but discussed together to lead 7 rice buyers to land plots of people in Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province (now An Giang province) to sign many rice purchase contracts and appropriated a total of over 5.7 billion VND in rice deposits.

The Investigation Police Agency of Hon Dat District Police has issued a decision to prosecute the case, prosecute the accused and issue an arrest warrant to detain Danh Quanh for fraud and property appropriation. However, the accused Quanh fled the locality. On July 16, 2025, the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police issued a wanted notice for Quanh.

Currently, the case is being further investigated by the Investigation Police Agency of An Giang Provincial Police to clarify the roles of the subjects involved in the case for handling according to the provisions of law.
