Cybersecurity and Cryptography in National Security

On June 15, the Government Cipher Committee in coordination with the Central Theoretical Council and the Academy of Journalism and Communication will organize a national scientific conference on the topic "Cyber Security and Cryptography in National Security" at the Hall of the Academy of Cryptography Techniques, Government Cipher Committee.

The workshop is a forum for leaders, experts, scientists and organizations to exchange and discuss to clarify a number of theoretical and practical issues on cyber security, cryptography and non-traditional security governance, focusing on cyber security in national security.

The workshop also clarified the viewpoints, guidelines and policies of the Party and State as well as the political and legal basis to ensure national sovereignty in cyberspace, assessed the current situation of the problem, thereby advising and proposing specific policies and solutions to develop human resources for cyber security and cryptography as well as focusing resources on cyber security management; proposed and recommended mechanisms and policies on culture, soft power in cyber security, cryptography, national defense and security policies, contributing to the development of the Documents of the 14th National Party Congress.

The event is expected to have the participation of over 300 delegates from nearly 30 agencies, organizations, businesses and over 50 central and local press agencies.

Delegates attending the Workshop were representatives of leaders of Ministries, Departments and Branches including the Central Propaganda Department; Ministry of Information and Communications and a number of agencies under the Ministry; representatives of leaders and members of the Central Theoretical Council, Command 86 - Ministry of National Defense, Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention, Department of Internal Security - Ministry of Public Security, Department of National Cyber Security, Information Technology Center - Government Office; Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Academy of Journalism and Communication and other Universities and Academies.

Also attending were delegates from the Government Cipher Committee and the Cipher Departments of ministries, branches, agencies and units under the Committee; the Board of Directors, specialized Departments and Faculties, scientists and experts from the Academy of Cryptography; Associations and companies operating in the field of Information Security and Network Security.

The workshop was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ta Ngoc Tan - Former member of the Party Central Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, Dr. Nguyen Huu Hung - Deputy Head of the Government Cipher Committee and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang - Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Head of Project KX04-32/21-25.

Attending the workshop, delegates will listen to the sharing about Ensuring ideological security in the current cyberspace environment; Current status of cyber security management in Vietnam and issues arising in the process of cyber security management; Cryptography in national security; International and regional cooperation in preventing, responding to and resolving non-traditional security threats, focusing on cyber security; Some issues arising in protecting the Fatherland in cyberspace; Cyber attack trends and solutions; Ensuring cyber security for data centers and Forecasting the situation and factors affecting the prevention and response to cyber security risks in the coming time.

The workshop is a national task, under the State-level scientific topic: " Non-traditional security issues, focusing on cyber security in national security ", code KX.04.32/21-25, under the Political Theory Science Research Program for the period 2021-2025 of the Central Theoretical Council, chaired by the Academy of Journalism and Communication, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thi Truong Giang, Deputy Director of the Academy of Journalism and Communication is the project manager.

Sharing about the National Scientific Conference, Dr. Nguyen Huu Hung - Deputy Head of the Government Cipher Committee said: "The conference plays an important role in identifying and clarifying theoretical and practical issues on network security and cryptography, non-traditional security management, focusing on network security management in national security.

Considering cyberspace as a “special territory”, security, network security and information security using cryptographic techniques are increasingly asserting their role in protecting sovereignty, developing the economy, and maintaining political and social stability of countries. This is the first time the Government Cipher Committee has coordinated with the Central Theoretical Council and the Academy of Journalism and Propaganda to organize a national-scale workshop. The opinions discussed in the workshop are of great significance in serving the development of the 14th National Party Congress Document on non-traditional security governance, focusing on cyber security in the national security in Vietnam.
